  1. My 5-year old has watched Ponyo about 12 times. She liked Totoro, but I haven't gotten around to watching Mononoke to see if it's ok for her to watch. Do you think it's too intense for a 5 yr old?
  2. IJ and Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls.
  3. I wish Simon Wells would really blow up... I believe he's the grandson of H.G.Wells... Kinda the same feeling I had when I wished Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley would have had a child. I mean, the child of Michael Jackson AND the grandchild of Elvis Presley?!?! COME ON!!!
  4. HAHA... I just found this post in another thread!! I guess I haven't changed that much.
  5. Nice work... I think I'm a bigger fan of trailers than I am of the actual movies... Trailers are like the equivalent of Christmas Eve... there's so much potential and excitement... Then the movie drops and it's like Christmas morning after all the presents have been opened.. no more anticipation.. either satisfaction or disappointment. I just prefer the magic that trailers can deliver.
  6. And "Justice League Dark"? I like the title... but it seems like something that would come out AFTER a straight forward JL movie. Almost as a poorly planned cash-grab. (Imagine Marvel cranking out a "West Coast Avengers" movie right now with Marvel's third-stringers as headliners.) But I still love the idea of this movie.
  7. This has somehow managed to stay off my radar until I saw that lat-rev article tonight. Wow. I would totally geek out on this.
  8. Recently, I would have to go with "Texas Chainsaw". Took my teen daughter to it (who liked it) but I couldn't believe
  9. If they do a sequel, I hope they go with "61 Hours" as the basis. It's a great read, and the budget would be low if they are hesitant about continuing with this franchise.
  10. The first time I saw "Seven" in the theater, the ending had a profound effect on me. I remember getting into the car in the parking lot and feeling almost nauseated from the disturbed feeling it gave me... but in a GOOD way. (I immediately LOVE any movie that can inspire a true emotional response from me no matter what that feeling is - happiness, sadness, disturbed or hopeful) I was a true Friends-aholic when that show ended. And I expect to have that same feeling when Dexter and Breaking Bad both come to an end in the very near future.
  11. I really enjoyed this book. However, I'll be more forgiving on deviations from the novel on this project than I would be whenever they get around to the miniseries for 11/22/63. Regardless, I don't think King's work translates all that well unless Darabont has a finger in it.
  12. Not really on topic, but SOOOOOO not deserving of its own thread... The Albert Pyun/Matt Salenger "Captain America" movie from the 90s is finally getting a true Blu-ray release. (And not that "Send me $25 and I'll send you a homemade Blu-ray" thing that Albert Pyun was doing through his webpage a few years back) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BCMT49I/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER Just in time to be a year late in cashing in on the highest grossing CBM ever. I was surprised this didn't happen 2 years ago when the hype leading up to TA was really building.
  13. Samuel L. Jackson driving by the manhole at the exact moment that Bruce Willis is ejected from it by rushing water in Die Hard With A Vengenance.
  14. For me (and the wife), it is hands-down "Raising Arizona". "They were his damn jammies! They had... Yodas and shit on 'em!""They were all o'er me. It was kinda horrifying, honey."Followed up by "The Princess Bride", "O Brother Where Art Thou?" (You have to remember, I'm surrounded by people with thick Southern US accents) "Office Space"
  15. My most watched trailer of all-time:http://youtu.be/0KW8stZ2jSQAnd the trailer that effected me emotionally more than any trailer ever:http://youtu.be/P0oNzk3LhHk
  16. The hobbling in "Misery."After the amputation in "127 Hours" when you realize what he STILL has to go through to find help.
  17. Loaded Weapon 1(should be interesting with a numeral. Was going to go with "Lincoln" just to put the shine on ya for the "enough with the letter N" )
  18. #1 Spider-Man 2#2 Spider-Man#3 TASM#4 Arachnophobia (Because any movie with a spider and a man in it is a better Spider-Man movie than...)#5 Spider-Man 3I hate to jump on the "Bash SM3" bandwagon, but that movie disappointed me in so many ways from the very first time I saw it. Raimi made no efforts to hide his distaste for the Venom character. I was always so disappointed that John Jameson was established as an astronaut and a jilted lover (who could have used that personal turmoil as an excuse for reckless behavior while on a mission in space where a black, alien goo could have been overlooked or unnoticed and inadvertently brought back to earth). When I saw his character in SM2, I was wholeheartedly convinced that was the path to be taken. "Screw MoonWolf," I thought. "THAT's how we bypass the Secret Wars and get Venom to earth!!!!" But no... we get a random meteor strike - which CAN be thought of as an homage to 50s sci-fi films but instead it's more of an indication of how little Raimi thought of Venom.I don't talk about Emo-Parker going all Tony Manero on NYC streets. I don't rant about duex ex machina butlers with information they hang on to for no reason. I don't even think of getaway car drivers who actually relieve Peter of any culpability in his uncle's death and therefore should relieve him of any sense of guilt or "Great Responsibility".SM3 is my personal "Phantom Menace" of CBMs.
  19. This was actually one of those flicks that I had absolutely no interest in seeing when I found myself walking into the theater to see it... and then I ended up really, really liking it. It's probably a case of something exceeding the non-existent expectations I had for it, but I was thoroughly entertained. I thought the effects were good, the story was compelling and I didn't even get annoyed by "Mannequin" Skywalker's performance.I left the theater eagerly anticipating a sequel.
  20. Wreck It RalphTASMBraveBreaking Dawn Part 2Skyfall
  21. I could read the first part of this post all day long... it's like dividing by zero.
  22. I always try to get my teen daughter to watch "The Lady in White" with Lucas Haas. When I was relatively young, I always thought that was a creepy one.
  23. Agreed best episode since season 4 episode 12. If the rest of the season is the like the first episode this could be one best 3 season of Dexter. Agreed. The was a little too hasty and seemingly unwise. But looking to be a great season. Here's hoping we can top season 4 quality-wise... even though that is a tall order.
  24. Damon had a cameo in "Jersey Girl" when Affleck had an interview with PR company - after he blew up concerning Fresh Prince of Bel Air at the Planet Hollywood. They brought him in just say they met the guy who had committed career suicide over Will Smith. It was Damon and "Dante" playing the interviewers.
  25. I'm a huge fan of Smith (especially after getting to know him through SModcast), and I've always found so much heart in his work. I constantly defend "Jersey Girl" to my in-the-know friends who love to bash that film. And Clerks II is, to me, much better than the original. I felt the characters are better directed, better developed and better portrayed. Simply due to the maturation of all the people involved with the production.
