  1. It's currently scheduled to go against Screen Jem's 'When the Bough Breaks' both films are geared towards 25+ female crowd so I think this release date hurts both. They should put this in August, and take advantage of the fact that there are no films currently scheduled there for the female audience.
  2. I guess so. But if jai Courtney gets to lead films than I have no problem with Blake. Equal opportunity for basic bitches.
  3. The budget was really big for this film, so i dont know if the studio is going to break even. Seeing as how the competition is fierce with Hateful Eight and SW, but it looks great.
  4. That seems like another 30m+ opener; Washington, Pratt, Hawke + Fuqua is a winning combo.
  5. Yeah September is still likely to be dominated by animation titles until a studio decides to take a risk with a bigger tentpole. Sniper is likely to hold that record for awhile.
  6. Sony does really well in September. 5 of the top 10 openings.
  7. Yes it has been a strange year for Bradley Cooper. I think it should be able to make atleast 15m though. Even The Counselor, with it's starry cast, did 16.9m in late October.
  8. One of the more meh Bond theme songs, but there have been a few of them so whatever. Casino Royale and Skyfall had the best songs in the Craig era, unless Spectre knocks it out of the park then those films will be remembered as the best ones of the Craig era as well.
  9. Reportedly 150m, not including P&A. This should do around 60-65m in the states, maybe more if its lucky. So once again depending on OS audiences to cover the budget.
  10. Sony has got to be breathing a huge sigh of relief about HT 2. Although the opening probably has more to do with no family film since Minions, rather than Sandler or quality.
  11. Everest did ok, I didn't really think it looked like a 100m grosser especially with The Martian on the horizon.
  12. September is actually doing better than August. I dont know what your expectations were. We're going to see two films open with 50m+ for the third weekend in a row. And there has been lots of variety as well.
  13. The Intern doing better than I expected, was predicting low teens. Then I realized that it's audience hasnt really had anything to watch since July.
  14. Im going to compare this to Think Like A Man 2. Opening will be frontloaded, and legs horrible.
  15. They'll hurt each other with the space aspect. But this one has more of a romantic element, while Rogue will be straight sci-fic. I think they'll attract different audiences so both should co-exist.
  16. I didn't find it funny. But if it's slapstick enough maybe kids will like it?
  17. you where? Everest and Black Mass always looked like 80-90m grossers at best to me. Maze Runner was the only one i thought would hit 100m, so that was a disappointment.
  18. Too high on Toy Story 4, Thor 3, SW 8 and POTC5. Guardians and SW will likely hurt each other, both are space genres. Pirates and Thor will both be lucky to hit 200m, domestic audiences don't care for the main stars. Pitch Perfect and FAST franchises have hit their peaks, i think decreases for both.
  19. So it looks like none of the openers really broke out. Black Mass is going to be on par with The Town ; after massive pre-release hype from the trades. The reviews are mixed at best, and WOM seems to be mixed as well. I doubt it's getting any Oscar noms, except maybe Depp. Legs will be interesting to watch as a barrage of adult action/dramas hit in October.
