You forgot their most valuable film, Spectre.
Honestly, 2016 should be better for Sony:
The Fifth Wave, Grimsby in the winter/spring
Angry Birds, Ghostbusters , Sausage Party in summer
Sony Pictures Animation, Inferno and probably Passengers in fall
Not very huge films but solid enough. I think they will move The Magnificent 7 to 2016 as well.
If this opens in the mid 20s you have to put the blame on Sony. This was their only potential tentpole of the summer and they really dropped the ball on marketing. I've barely seen anything.
Is an Ant-man sequel possible? it's going to perform in line with the first CA and Thor so i dont see why Marvel would leave that money off the table. Unless they see no potential for higher grosses.
looks very crowd-pleasing like most Russell films. I think he has another 100m+ grosser on his hands because this film looks unique in today's movie landscape.
I dont think Lionsgate is up shits creek yet. Divergent franchise will buy them some time but they need to produce more films. Alot of the films they put out are still small indies that aren't going to make a dent.
2016 looks fairly solid. Nothing on Hunger Games level but Dirty Grandpa, Gods of Egypt and Deepwater Horizon could be a real hits.
Criminal
Dirty Grandpa
Alligiant P1
Gods of Egypt
Mechanic: Resurrection
Now You See Me 2
La La Land
Deepwater Horizon
She's gonna be fine. The finale bump is almost assured.
The question is what The Good Dinosaur and Spectre are going to do. Im also expecting something else to breakout in the fall.
No use in analyzing mmxl, wb soent nothing on it so it's making a profit no matter how small.
Lol @ universal holding onto the number one movie for a month. No one saw this coming.
it was a poor decision. Not a fourth of July weekend movie at all. Terminator should be doing better but its unlucky that JW and IO are destroying everything.
fourth of july weekend has been such a bummer these past few years. Should have put Minions, Pixels or MI:5 there, i dont know why studios scheduled so many releases at the end of july.
TED 2 should not have had it's release date to itself either.
Im interested to see how Independence Day 2 does as well. There is another Friday the 13th reboot, Finding Dory, Ice Age 5, another Bourne movie---- I feel like we're going back in time for 2016.
