  1. I bet Sony will move Jumanji. Do they even have a cast for that yet? And im assuming that there will be tons of CGi for the animals, seems like another Goosebumps situation.
  2. I really dont think people should be down on MT after this week. People are buying tickets online more than ever before. Which is why Fandango's reports aren't totally accurate either. These tracking sites should only be used as tools to aid in predictions but not the only thing. Besides, MT and Fandango did show that Black Mass was performing better than tracking suggested.
  3. i dont get how they can just switch to Warner Bros. Didn't Legendary sign a 5 year contract for Universal to distribute their films?
  4. That guy was so annoying in Jurassic World and this movie looks lame as fuck, the CGI is terrible. They better have not spent more than 50m on this otherwise it's not a good investment.
  5. You dont think Paranormal Activity, Krampus or Crimson Peak could do it too?
  6. Great Weekend. Im still puzzled why studios left Labor Day to die though. One of these fall releases are going to fail because of too much competition, they could have benefited from the slow last few weeks of August.
  7. It looks like Sony is going to save face this year with their fall slate, it's actually quite solid. They have Hotel Transylvania 2, The Walk, Goosebumps, Spectre, The Night Before, and Concussion on the dock; all should do 50m or more domestically. Spectre is the only one that was a huge expense and I think that is making 1 billion WW off the goodwill from Skyfall. Add in The Perfect Guy and War Room, which both should end with atleast 40m and their year doesn't look so dire anymore.
  8. If you dont watch MTV, VH1, Lifetime, BET, OWN, Oxygen, BRAVO, or ABC then you probably didnt know it existed. It caters to the starved female audience, specifically black women.
  9. It's a crying shame that Sanaa Lathan hasn't gotten more lead roles. She's beautiful, charismatic and a great actress. Has not gotten a chance to do more in her career.
  10. I wish Sanaa Lathan, Morris Chestnut and Micheal Ealy could get better roles, they've been grinding for years and have a loyal audience. I dont understand why studios restrict black actors to just romantic comedies and thrillers, why not sci-fi, drama, fantasy, action and comic book genres? These movies would do huge business.
  11. Good numbers for both openers. Much better than tracking(which has been off way too much this year).
  12. This will definitely flop. They might as well cut their loses and throw it in February
  13. THG made her a movie star, so i dont know how you could say that SLP, American Hustle wasn't helped by her name. Pratt is the one who has more to prove, he's only led pre-established brands up to this point.
  14. Relativity postponed this indefinitely along with The Disappointments Room and The Bronze http://variety.com/2015/film/news/relativity-postpones-disappointments-rooms-before-i-wake-the-bronze-1201588328/
  15. Bodes well for Suicide Squad, that's probably going to be the last hurrah for summer 2016.
  16. I think BO.com is over-predicting The Intern, and The Walk Sep/Oct dramas: Black Mass: 28/90m Captive: 5m/13m Everest: 18m/70m The Intern:14m/36mm Sicario: 13m/35m The Martian: 45m/140m The Walk: 15m/40m Steve Jobs: 20m/75m Bridge of Spies: 22m/80m Burnt: 11m/30m Rock the Kasbah: 8m/24m Our Brand is Crisis: 19m/65m
  17. Very impressive weekend indeed. Should make a nice profit for the new indie studio (Broad Green Pictures)
  18. Maybe the studios are afraid that movie-going slows down too much at the end of August in order to support a big film. If they didnt load up May with so many releases than summer's grosses could be more evenly distributed.
  19. Well Spielberg has a long and storied history with Universal so it makes sense. Not sure if its a game changer, for either company though.
