  1. Zero clue. Someone upthread said for Tomb Raider which opened in Europe a week early, they embargoed reviews even after it was open in Europe so it was closer to the US release date. Which I didn’t even know they could do?
  2. Oh wait never mind, looks like Uncharted is up 6am Friday (UK time). That’s like 11pm Thursday I think? But don’t rely on my math
  3. Marry Me embargo lifts this 9am this Thursday. Uncharted embargo lifts 9 am next Tuesday. Don't know how that works with the movie due out in the UK this weekend
  4. Having a six day “opening weekend” is just ridiculous. What’s the point of juicing the numbers so much
  5. BD made a vague tweet about seeing something that was awesome and much more than he expected. But he could've been talking about anything
  6. Is it awful even if you have a high tolerance for shitty disaster movies? Asking for someone who really enjoyed The Day After Tomorrow That someone being me lol
  7. I still think Uncharted is a movie that will be very susceptible to reviews. Bad reviews and it will drop to sub 20, good reviews and it can go up to 50
  8. Wait, are these numbers just for tickets sold at AMC theaters? I don’t think the rest of the chains have them up for sale until tomorrow
  9. Is Box Office Pro no longer doing long range tracking? They'd usually have something out about The Batman by now in pre-COVID times.
  10. That sounds about right to me. What's more interesting is what people would consider a hit. Dune scored these numbers and was universally praised as a hit but these numbers still look way soft to me, especially for established IP.
  11. This thread is a good example of why studios lowball their predictions so much. After people started speculating that 50m/4-day was on the table, a perfectly good opening now looks underwhelming in response
  12. DH1 > DH2 I actually really like how comparatively slow and meditative it is compared to the other films. I feel like you get a much better sense of the characters
  13. Yeah, it seems really stupid. You're boycotting this event because it's corrupt and racist...and now you're so honored that these corrupt racists like your work? Make it make sense
  14. Is it any weaker than Uncharted where a lot of video game fans seem upset about the casting?
  15. Tom is extremely popular on instagram but social media metrics only tell you so much. Not all the Rock’s movies are hits. In this day and age, it’s about the package of actor + character. No one wanted to see RDJ in a family movie where he talks to animals in his first Endgame follow-up. I think Spidey audiences cross over far more with a prospective Uncharted audience than Endgame/Doolittle did. But Tom could just be another Chris Hemsworth who should’ve been able to make Men in Black International succeed coming off Endgame. Established star, established IP, lots of audience crossover with Thor fans (including his literal co-star from Ragnarok in a virtually identical dynamic). Even with bad reviews, that should’ve made way more than it did.
  16. I think this is his first real test as a "movie star". Cherry was streaming, he didn't even bother to promote Chaos Walking or even post the trailer on his socials. I don't know what even constitutes a "hit" nowadays though. Over 30m OW? Over 40m? Who the hell knows.
  17. People are salivating for more Spidey content though - it's not like this is an Endagme "ok, now it's time to take a breather" kind of situation. The end of NWH threw open the door to a million more possibilities that people want to see
  18. Tell me, do you think they're going to delay it to add in a scene of Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man into the movie??? Can't tell where you stand on this
  19. Specifically, it says they want to keep the big screens for NWH. Which sounds like specious reasoning to me but whatever https://deadline.com/2022/01/morbius-sony-pushes-release-date-for-jared-letos-marvel-film-1234903954/
  20. WB asked JK Rowling to be part of it and she was the one who said no and that she thought the previous interviews she'd done would suffice. https://ew.com/movies/why-j-k-rowling-didnt-join-harry-potter-reunion-special-return-to-hogwarts/
  21. I’m surprised by how terribly the Matrix is doing. I remember their trailer had a ton of views so the interest was there, had the movie been a good one
