  1. My thoughts exactly. Knock on wood here, but I guess this weekend's openers were just that dire (as they usually are).
  2. Wow, that number for Joker! I had Maleficent and J pegged for $16.6M and $16.5M respectively! Move over Disney. I'm the lowball master now!
  3. I feel like numbers in general is a common interest/hobby for people in a variety of different contexts, such as box office, stocks/business or sports stats.
  4. It's weird how much this sells me. It's like, the movie looks so bad as a "horror" that I'll take any other element that shines haha.
  5. I really do hate to keep whining but I feel like I'm going to need to vent in this thread for awhile: Discovered another little annoying thing. For whatever reason I was browsing the all time Memorial Day weekend openers and I noticed the list includes non-openers as well (ie. Shrek the Third is included on the list at 18th, even though it didn't open on Memorial Day weekend, it opened the weekend before). It's minor I know, but also annoying. If someone is doing research they require accurate lists and data. The site is just so littered with mistakes and blatant inaccuracies that it's infuriating for me. Must be what it feels like for experts in any field to glance over a Wikipedia page or something.
  6. I'm curious to see Arnold's physicality in this. I know he keeps in pretty good shape (it's Arnold after all!!) but I hope it's not reminiscent of Harrison Ford in his latest Indiana Jones/Star Wars movies. It's kind of tragic to watch....
  7. Thanks! I figured that original 3,600+ figure on BOM was bogus. That said, 3,000+ is still tons for this movie! The PTA should be amazing to behold.
  8. Releasing in roughly 2,000 next Friday. Not bad. Not bad at all. I figured this would kind of open to little fanfare in 1,000-something theatres and pretty much be forgotten. I'm actually pretty surprised it's playing in so many more locations than Motherless Brooklyn.
  9. Will release in roughly 1,250 locations next Friday. Here I thought films like The Sun is Also a Star and The Kitchen had low theatre counts for WB releases. It feels like this might have been better off opening platform, or at least limited, to start off.
  10. Haha! Brutal. Speaking of Bye Bye Man, at least that one had an unexpectedly decent OW. This, however, seems DOA.
  11. Pretty much. Looks interesting but not a must watch by any means. Hope it legs out to a decent gross though.
  12. Yeah the cast screams quality all around. I do wish I had the opportunity to see it. I suspect this will be the type of film that will go to Netflix fairly quickly (assuming it has a very short theatrical run). Is this even playing in Canada? I don't know if it's a glitch on the Cineplex website but I couldn't find showtimes for it on any of the biggest theatres in the nation that I checked (didn't check every single one obviously). I feel like Tulip Fever two years ago was another example of a delayed Weinstein film that never showed theatrically in Canada.
  13. They will, but likely for Disney+. This will end up actually doing decently worldwide, but not big enough to indicate any sort of real strong momentum after the first one. It's kind of like a smaller Pirates 5 in that way.
  14. Right on cue pretty much. We're a little less than 3 months away from release.
  15. I read somewhere one of the main issues with the dated software was security.
  16. Random thought (because there's not much else going on this weekend to discuss): It seems like we're really behind for some 2020 film trailers, at least for the bigger ones. I tend to use 6 months to release as a general sticking point for trailer drops for blockbusters, which means we were due a trailer for Godzilla vs Kong sometime in September (March 13 release date),, or a trailer for No Time to Die (April 8 release date). We also just got a trailer for Birds of Prey on October 1 (February 7 release date). I do know Warner Bros. is changing their marketing strategy and dropping trailers later on than they used to. I wonder about Bond though. I hope the trailer drops soon. It'll be interesting to see when trailers drop for the main May releases: Black Widow, Scoob, the new Saw, Fast & Furious 9 and Artemis Fowl.
  17. Nice! How are you liking Alain Vigneault behind the bench? Guy was the best coach in Canucks history.
  18. Have to laugh. Under the Changes tab in the calendar section they list Raya and the Last Dragon as having moved from June 19, 2020 to November 25, 2020. Umm, wasn't Raya always scheduled for November 25, due to the fact that Soul is scheduled for June 19?
  19. You guys are definitely right that, like almost any weekend on the calendar, the right film could definitely be successful on a weekend like this one. I was just commenting on how the studios seem to treat this particular weekend.
