  1. How much of a drop today for Joker do you think?
  2. Have to agree with you here. Star Wars in general - both movies and TV - is far superior to Marvel in terms of visuals and special effects.
  3. True, but I guess you could say other filmmakers did a much better job of it. This CA remake feels, I don't know, too on the nose perhaps?
  4. Yes I do. That was a horrible way to describe it so my bad on that. I just mean that the movie feels like it's made to serve the current social and political landscape, nevermind being just another forced reboot. The original Charlie's Angels featured badass women that didn't feel the need to remind you that they're women. This one, however, just makes me and several other people - including women! - roll our eyes.
  5. I hear you. That's why I agree with others who've said this movie could have really benefited from opening in a less crowded period on the calendar. Ironically though, for how crowded it is a lot of films this month seem to be calendar filler, so TGL might actually be propped up a bit as a result.
  6. Negative buzz for this among my circles. Even the women think it looks silly. My sister said she feels like "the message is girl power overload!!". I agree. The movie doesn't feel genuine. It feels like a #MeToo product, if that makes sense. I genuinely hope it does well though. Hopefully its target audience shows up!
  7. Not much talk about this one. I'm definitely seeing it. If not next weekend then definitely on Tuesday. Anyone else? Watching Sir Ian McKellan and Helen Mirren work together should be a treat.
  8. Well...it didn't come in last of the new openers. It opened to $12,723,781, just ahead of Last Christmas's $11.4M. It has a shot for some decent legs for another couple weeks before Frozen II hits.
  9. The few people I know who saw this over the weekend basically had the same reaction: not amazing, just a good little romantic Christmas movie. In other words, it probably hits the spot for a lot of people but it's not so amazing that it's worthy of a breakout, which obviously it didn't. What do you guys think the legs will be like?
  10. I love war films, especially WWII, but the reason I'm just not interested in this one is because of something @dudalb touched on: the trailers gave off a vibe of a CGI spectacle. Nope, not interested. If it's going to be WWII, I'd rather it be in the vein of Saving Private Ryan or Dunkirk. Glad it's doing alright though.
  11. Thoroughly enjoyed this, but yeah, I guess it makes sense in hindsight why it's so disappointing at the box office. The Shining really isn't that big a deal - or even a known quantity - for millenials/Gen Z'ers, which makes this sequel really pointless (in their eyes). Looking forward to reading the book!
  12. Oh man, dont I feel stupid. I was in hockey mode and thinking you were talking about Sidney Crosby, who plays for Pittsburgh and is absolutely loathed in Philly.
  13. Philly related or Pennsylvania related? As far as Crosby goes there's a BIG difference because he's definitely not Philly related. Philly hated maybe haha! What say you @75Live?
  14. Change of plans. We're seeing Doctor Sleep right now and Last Christmas on Tuesday. Thoughts on the other side.
  15. If TRoS falls below $200M OW that would be pretty depressing, in all honesty. I mean, I certainly GET IT. I would just be sad. Tough to see Star Wars fall like that. As much as I love the MCU Star Wars is still #1 me. Always will be. What about you @Porthos?
  16. Absolutely! It's not that audiences aren't interested, it's that audiences are picky about when they're going to spend money to see a movie in theatres. This is why we see plenty of perfectly fine movies underperform or even flat out flop.
  17. Like, why even bother going to a movie? I cant imagine how annoyed you must have been.
