  1. Damn you WB, why must you make the wait for July 20th that much longer with a trailer that EPIC?!

  2. Just looked at my local 6 screen for boxing day onwards. After 7pm, only 3 films are showing. MI4, Holmes 2 and Dragon Tattoo are showing on two screens a piece. Expected for Holmes and MI4, but bodes even better for Dragon Tattoo, the buzz must be there, and the cineworld must be confident.
  3. It's getting to the point where redbox and iTunes will be the places to guage how big a film is. Give it 5 years...
  4. All the overseas OW numbers are more than 3 days. In the UK we got Avatar the evening of December 16th as an example.
  5. Hmm. Lets see.1. TRON: Legacy2. The Social Network3. Tangled4. How To Train Your Dragon5. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo6. Scott Pilgrim Vs The World7. Inception8. The Kings Speech9. Get Him To The Greek10. Unstoppable
  6. Kim Jong Il's dead? Sounds like its most definitely time for Team America 2!

  7. Is there a case to say that the wrong film moved this weekend? I have only heard stuff about MI4, and less about Sherlock. Has the IMAX only release still affected it? As much as the economy?
  8. I can't see there being any prebookings again for a while for every chain, possibly not until battykins in July.
  9. Don't tell that to BKB, overseas only gets mentioned if the movie tanks in the US
  10. Last year I saw about 75 movies, and approx 150 times combined. About 70 this year and 100 screenings. Haven't been able to get to my theatre enough, as well as no Toy Story, Dragons or Avatar to watch 5 or more times...
  11. I'm hoping if the presales are anything to go by, MI4 will do quite well, but seeing as all bar 1 screen is in IMAX, that skews it a bit. The maddest thing i've seen recently is that War Horse has been taking bookings at my local odeon for the last 2 weeks. Wtf!
  12. Here here on the rudeness Shawn, its why i've given up going to the movies on wednesday now (our 2 4 1 deal day in the UK). The scum come out and wont shut up. Paranormal Activity 2 was the worst audience I have ever had at a theatre because of this.
  13. Have to admit, i'm lucky I still carry a student card, my IMAX ticket on wednesday has already cost me $17 dollars, and this is for a weds at 1pm, an adult ticket would cost me me the equivalent of $24. This and the fact that it's 70 miles away is the reason I only get there three times a year. The only reason at all that I can afford to see the number of movies I do is my unlimited pass. I've saved $1000 in the last two years at a minimum with it.
  14. Nice to see someone else with the same philosophy as myself. As for the points people have raised, it really is time for ticket prices to drop. As it has been said many a time, they get fuck all from the ticket prices. The smartest thing is to take a hit per ticket and make a gain in the volume. If the volume increases due to cheaper tickets then the conscession sales will increase. I doubt they'd see it like that. A drop in price by say $1.50 could work like this:Say you have a middle of the range movie released. The auditorium has 300 seats. Now, on opening night the ticket price is approx $10, and has an occupancy of about 100 people. 1000 dollars there. Now they have the same movie, same screening, same, same capacity, but tickets are $8.50, and they sell 85% of the tickets. That works out as $2167.50 add on at least double the concession sales and they would have a much bigger profit. Shortsightedness could kill my favourite industry, and that would be a crime.
  15. Like I said, last year we were down, and i'm expecting even worse this year outside our Top 3.
  16. Last year was down, and excluding Potter, TKS and The Inbetweeners i'm guessing we've nosedived in 2011.
  17. The EU in general is pretty much fucked, Greece and Italy are espescially in the shitter. We in the UK are pretty stuffed. My area is a cess pool for it. Cost of living is rediculously high, but theres no bloody money. The most annoying thing about the cinema economy around here is, i've seen ticket prices CHEAPER in cities ffs. Correct me if i'm wrong, but our Odeon chain here is the equivalent I think of AMC if i'm not mistaken, massive number of sites and an IMAX monopoly, but so damn expensive its unreal.
  18. The Hobbit has only 4 or 5 days to make its bank!!!
  19. To be honest, film is no better or worse than it has ever been, this is a crazy bad slump. When will it end? IF it ends...
  20. This is my favourite EM movie of all time, James Earl Jones steals every scene that he's in! Epic!!!
  21. Love this movie, one of my two favourite films ever.
  22. Maybe lowering ticket prices could be in their best interests, sell a higher volume at a smaller price, and probably earn more, and see the concessions sell even better. Thats why Tuesdays are constantly up these days.
  23. My Name Is Earl is definitely up there for me. Mainly because of the first season, but still.Adore King of the Hill too. Not as much as my mate, who legally changed his last name to Boomhauer.
