  1. Disney animation doing obscure Marvel, this film just sells itself. $200 million easily.
  2. Finding Dory is going to absolutely destroy Box Office records for an animated feature. Nemo was one of PIXAR's top hits in Europe during the fall/winter of 2003. And with the sequel also set for winter, it's going to be huge. Japan will be back for this one as well I'm sure. It will definitely close in on Toy Story 3's worldwide record.
  3. i think Elysium looks great. The combination of Jodie Foster, Matt Damon and Neil Blomkamp is more interesting than any other sic-fi this year. I think mainstream audiences would much more easily check this out than After Earth or Oblivion. Which looked geek-exclusive.
  4. Agreed, Bullock was no longer a big draw at that point in her career (Miss Congeniality 2 four years easier proved this). So it was the combination of the two of them that created a monster hit. And Sandra hit the jackpot a few months later, solidifying her name as A-list Oscar winner. Ryan on the other hand had nothing of quality lined up, so he's still in the same place as he was before The Proposal. A somewhat famous actor that can't be linked to a genre and neither he or Hollywood has a clue what to do with his career. The fact that he starred in one of the most notoriously awful films of recent memory isn't helping him much either.
  5. Turbo is tanking hard. Might come in below $30 million for the 5 day. I don't see this outgrossing Antz at this point.
  6. That is fucking terrible for Turbo. It's going to sell less tickets than Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron..... Did Fox dump this film? Something's off here. Either way, Dreamworks stock is going to plummet on monday. They better fast track another Shrek and hurry up with 'Dreamworksland'.
  7. Disney seriously needs to evaluate its marketing strategy in The Netherlands. Opening in 5th place is completely unacceptable. I get that the weather is great and people are on vacation, so it was never going to make a lot of money.... But opening in 5th place while Despicable Me 2 repeats at #1 making three times as much? That's a failure of epic proportions. Disney's last somewhat successful film here at this point was Cars 2 which is embarrassing. Everything since then has underwhelmed.
  8. Disney is not letting go of that Thanksgiving weekend. They've booked it for the rest of the decade. FD is not moving. And neither is Mockingjay. If Frozen can co-exist this fall with CF, then so will FD and MJ. Because film can co-exist.
  9. That's a harsh drop for DM2. Quite a bit below MU's second friday. Meanwhile, MU is in a free-fall. GU2 just represents the amount of idiots currently among moviegoers.
  10. At least Japan appears to be a saving grace. It's been a while since they've shown genuine interest in a Hollywood film.
  11. Amazing for DM2. And good to see MU stabilizing a bit. And go The Heat!!!! That film needs a sequel and more films with women in lead roles need to be made.
  12. Another Jungle Book remake from Disney? The original is perfect. Please leave this alone.
  13. I hope MU breaks out BIG. Would love to see a Hollywood production make $100 million again.
  14. That's surprising for TLR. I thought it would sink like a rock.
  15. And Avatar desperately needed a better script. But I guess we can't all win....
  16. I think Bruckheimer is the problem. When Pirates 6 wraps up, Disney should cut ties.
  17. Disney's marketing is deceptive. Frozen will be an all out musical fantasy spectacle. Definitely a contender for the Oscar.
  18. Great for MU. I hope DM2 doesn't hurt it too badly. Would love for it to hit $300 million.
  19. Boy was this bad. Script made no sense, the acting often laughable (most notably Isla Fischer) and the 'twist' was just stupid. The 'magic tricks' were nothing more than plot devices. None of them are explained. 'Look, the gang transforms into money! .. and now they're human again'... yeah, but HOW? It defies all laws of physics and logic. Oh the key is in the coke! Cool huh? Yeah sure. And the romance between Ruffalo and the french agent? Good lord that was phoned in. What an empty, vapid work. And such soulless directing. I am baffled by this film's success.
