  1. It probably won't be good, but in today's painfully homogeneous blockbuster landscape Ritchie definitely has more personality than most directors.
  2. Is Hidden Figures on course for the biggest domestic portion of its total gross for a movie that made over 150m WW? Currently at 87%, though a few territories have just opened and I assume the numbers need updating. Great run either way.
  3. Like the first movie it's too frenetic for its own good, but for a Batman fan like me it's hard not to have a big grin on your face the entire time.
  4. Just imagine if the DCU decided to make good movies. The sky would be the limit...
  5. So this is a horror movie, then. Posters are all over London showing a girl in a bath with what looks like eels (?) and the title in big letters, without even an indication that it's a film. I somehow doubt a breakout is on the cards.
  6. It's easy to see why it was a smash, though I can't help but wish the second half wasn't so frantic.
  7. All JP sequels were trash, but JP3 knows it's trash. Its cop-out ending is one of the worst in film history though.
  8. My girlfriend tried to see T2 this evening at a fairly big south london cinema but it was sold out, which seems pretty crazy this late into the run.
  9. Hmm, it's a nice thought but I certainly don't feel like there's been a greater variety of movies since OS markets exploded. In fact I'd say they've become a lot more bland to cater to as many different cultures as possible.
  10. Probably the most irritating thing about JW was that it wasted its own premise. The entire marketing campaign promised tourist-filled park chaos but that only really happened in a single scene. The rest might as well have been on a deserted island like all the other films. But hey, I love JP so much that if WOM was much stronger for the next film I'd probably give it a shot.
  11. Lol, as soon as I scrolled down to that CGI story I could already hear Dash typing away. I mean, this approach was expected. The fun of going back to Blade Runner is surely the creation of elaborate sets as much as anything else. But there'll be a shitload of CGI wizardry regardless.
  12. It's more Hong-Kong style action films that old fashioned, per se. Also people liked seeing Reeves kick ass again after the Matrix.
  13. Seems like LB should have done a bit better? Strong legs ahoy, I guess.
  14. I don't buy that, but I appreciate it's a total nitpick. Maybe they could have written it that he came back home to find the dead dog, but I suppose it wouldn't have been dramatically urgent. Anyway, who cares. Bring on the sequel.
  15. ^ The only problem with that scene is that it comes right after you see Wick get taken out very easily by 3 thugs with baseball bats. I get that without that there's no story, but it doesn't seem in keeping with the actions of the world's greatest assassin.
  16. Damn, great run. I'd be surprised if it makes a dent OS but it's quite nice to see an old-fashioned sleeper hit like this.
  17. That makes sense. The finale of the the first film has a weird feeling of 'well the main bad guy's still alive, I guess we might as well finish him off too'. I hope the sequel maintains the urgency throughout this time.
  18. I'd always assumed Bad Boys 2 made tons of money, but 273m WW against a 130m budget is nothing special. Do people really want a follow-up?
