Weekend Estimates - (BO.com forums <3 RTH)

That makes sense. If it's performing like a family movie then it'll fall quite a bit tomorrow.

Sunday hold should still be good as Mother's day should boost it. Now, GG should fall in teens so locking up mid 50's opening. Amazing weekend for both.  :D  :D  :D

Families with older kids, of course, not toddlers.

That's what I mean. I guess it comes down to what you mean by "older kids". (Putting aside I don't see what's interesting or awesome about it in the first place, but that's a different story. ;))

We've known for a little while now that IM3 is basically playing like a family movie. Given the actual context of the movie, that's pretty weird, but hey, a 75-80m second weekend in the face of a low 50s opener is FREAKING AMAZING. Kudos to Gatsby for an extraordinary frame as well. A big breakout hit. I wonder if it can play as counterprograming to Star Trek and the other male-skewing franchises and do upwards of 150m total. WOM seems pretty good to me. If Star Trek doesn't screw things up next weekend, we could be looking at a legendary May.

Maybe having a kid interact with Tony in the movie helps with the family factor?

Not to jinx anything, but I really don't see anything underperforming this month until After Earth, which is the last day of the month so it doesn't really count. If anything does it will be TH3. Either way, this May is definitely going into the record books.

Was I the only person who found the kid annoying? Not Oskar Schell annoying but still pretty annoying.

Great Great Weekend!  Gatsby doing fantastic and IM3 holding court like a boss!

I'm loving every minute of it. Go May!

It's really great to see both big movies do well.

Have you watched TGG yet, E?
