Plain Old Tele
Watch out for Steven Price.
Spidey Freak
Yeah I don't really agree with it either especially since Disney pretty much swept the 90s. Princess and the Frog wasn't eligible either. Why weren't Tangled and PatF eligible again?
Blankments
Why weren't Tangled and PatF eligible again? They incorporated the songs in the score, and apparently that's against the rules...

MrPink
After seeing it, I hope Gravity is here I don't think it misses. It's a nice score for sure, but I wish the score wasn't so prevalent throughout the movie. It could have used some moments of silence, you know? It would have made the last sequence feel even more effective when the music finally did kick in. Still, Price did some great work. 4815162342
The music and other movie noise was so loud in the theater it caused the music to drown itself out.
stripe
Listening to Gravity's score. It's solid, ethereal. One of ther best of the year so far. Last three tracks are pretty awesome.
ChD
Can't wait to hear Twelve Years a Slave score.
Blankments
If it didn't blatantly steal from Inception at the end, I'd say that Captain Phillips has a good shot here. Unfortunately, it does steal from Inception which kills its chances IMO
ddddeeee
Cap Phil score added nothing to the film. The powers that be evidently feel the same way since a lot of John Powell was tracked into the end and Jackman was shamelessly asked to rip off Inception. I don't care if Zimmer is credited, that just doesn't sit well with me.
ChD
I just listened to that Cpt. Phillips soundtrack. It doesn't sound like Time... at first. But then... I still need to see the movie, though
CoolioD1
Yeah, no way Captain Phillips happens. Also, maybe I need to see the movie (still not out here yet! *shakes fist*) but I listened to the Gravity soundtrack and thought it was kinda awful. 4815162342
Gravity's music isn't that good standalone (The track Shenzou though is), but it works very well accompanying the chaos onscreen.

It had a couple of good tracks, but that was about it. Anyone watched 12 Years a Slave? How's Zimmer? Edited October 24, 2013 by ChD
ddddeeee
Apparently even 12 Years a Slave warranted the BBRRRRMMMMMM and big dramatic build up Journey to the Line/Chevaliers de Sangreal/Time treatment.
Jack Nevada
Captain Phillips is the best movie of the year, but no way in hell is it getting nominated for its score. Compeltely unremarkable.
ddddeeee
Newman for SMB, Zimmer for 12 Years, Price for Gravity and Williams for The Book Thief. Who gets the last spot? I figured Monuments Men before it moved.
Impact
SMB.... Super Mario Bros??? Edit: Saving Mr. Banks Sorry SMB automatically means Super Mario Brothers to me Edited October 24, 2013 by Impact

ddddeeee
Hmm not sure. I think Price wins anyway, first time nominees always seem to win this one.
