REVISED Weekend Estimates 6/14--6/16: Man of Steel OW $116.7M($128.7M including WM)

Recommended Posts

It's not skewing, it's literally the equivilent of one really rich guy buying 12 million dollars worth of tickets and doing what he wants with them. WB still made that money.

Yea.... how does no one get this?

If you want to argue about the excitement people are having to see this film or the quality of the film, fine... proceed...

But this is about how much money will MOS make...

And if Wal-Mart wanted to buy 12 million tickets, then bully for them!

If I wanted to buy 12 million tickets, that's not screwing the numbers. Once those tickets are sold and WB gets the cash, we shouldn't care what the hell happens with them.

So Wal-Mart just found 50% of the tickets outside their corporate offices and started to hand them out? Didn't Wal-Mart purchase 12M worth of tickets from WB?

Plan was to resell them to the public but it didn't quite work out like that. WB got 12M but it skews things as to how much of it was purchased by public.

That Rich guy made a deal with WB and it brought customers into his store and put butts in seats.  It was a win/win for both parties.

Walmart lost money if they weren't able to sell all their MOS tickets. They won't do this again.

Nope cause I'm sure people who brought "Man of Steel" tickets also most likely brought something in the Walmart Store too, that's the point.

so that means they gave away the same amount in all stores all across america?

You've point but my point was 12M skews things for Friday and rest of the weekend as we don't know the exact number of tickets were sold by Walmart.

Why are we still fighting over the Walmart numbers? The point has been restated many times, it's counted like every other Thursday preview gross. Whether millions of people bought Walmart tickets with a combined worth of $12 million dollars, or one rich executive bought all Walmart tickets worth $12 million is irrelevant.

Don't calculate the weekend with the 12 million into it and then tack it on after. We can probably assume that walmart did something with all the tickets.

Though the time where Man Of Steel will live and die by it's own merits will soon be here, it is time to reflect on what was truly one of the greatest marketing and release strategies ever concocted.

With marketing and with the film, WB pulled a John Hammond and spared no expense.

They're going to make a fortune with this thing.

well they have given the Midnight numbers. so if people dont want to include the 12mill in the Ow they can overlook it

Possibly one of the most clever.

WB sold 1M tickets to Walmart so they don't care if Walmart actually sold those tickets or gave them away.

This.

It's like Walmart purchased all tickets for a Lady Gaga show to sell them then claiming the gig is sold out even if no actual audience bought all of those tickets.

People are trying to say shipping tickets to a retailer for 12M is the same thing as selling those actual tickets to an audience for 12M.
