Weekend Estimates: Riddick - 18.6M | The Butler - 8.9M | We're the Millers - 7.9M

Hmm. Why couldn´t INI make 100 million? It's proven to be a crossover crowd-pleaser hit with non-Hispanic audiences, and if it becomes the must-see event for Hispanics that My Big Fat Greek Wedding was for Greek-Americans back in the day, it could be the first Spanish-language film to gross 100 million.

Life is Beautiful, spoken entirely in Italian, adjusts to 91 million, and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon adjusts to 185 million.  Not saying that this will happen, but this film could set a precedent.

I mean, we really never know what film will truly connect with audiences, and these things hapen quickly, with word of mouth spreading like wildfire and creating a 'you gotta see it' effect that helps the box office.

There is something I will never understand: why did Universal greenlighted a sequel to Pitch Black, a movie that made 40M DOM, with a 105M budget?

Universal didn't green light anything.  Vin and company took the rights overseas and got funding.  Universal only wanted a piece of the pie domestically since they got the money from the other films.  "Chronicles" did disappoint but the character is has a cult-like fanbase.  Vin was smart to keep it going.  Technically speaking, "Pitch Black" was Vin's 1st headlining role.

He didn't headline it though. The first time his name was actually used in the advertisements for a movie, it was the original Fast and the Furious, and he was second billed.

Vin didn't had the rights to the character back then.

I'm not a big fan of the Riddick movies, but I love Diesel's enthusiasm and respect for his audience. Hollywood needs more actors like him.

I am a fan and love Vin's enthusiasm as well!

Just came back, loved it. I havn't even seen the first two Riddick films.

I really liked it as well and watched Pitch Black last night to refresh my self on the "John's" mentions.

Vin Diesel has the #1 film in North America, as RIDDICK launched w/ $18.6M

Since Saturday went up I'd love it if went up with actuals to $19m!!
