X-Men: Days of Future Past OS thread

Yeah we'd have to see how it performs in Venezuela the coming weekend. If DOFP manages 225m domestically, $700m WW should be no problem.

Why does it have to reach $225M domestic to lock up $700M? Are you expecting less than $20M for the remainder of the overseas run?

It doesn't have to reach $225M, its just that if it does, 700M mark would no doubt be passed or already passed at that point   ;)  500M OS is still in the cards at this point IMO.

Fox intl, unlike other studios, includes Puerto Rico numbers in the number it reports. But this number is already included in domestic numbers. So BOM deducts the gross from PR to give the correct worldwide number. This happens for all Fox films.

I can't tell if this is true or just some Puerto Rico joke

Ahead of its final opening in Venezuela next weekend, X-Men: Days of Future Past grossed an extra $18.2m from its 74 markets to take its overseas haul to $457.6m and its global tally to $663.5m.

China continues to be the biggest market with $111.8m following a $2.1m weekend and, despite the launch of the World Cup, Brazil fell just 34% to add $2m for $23.9m and France and the UK each provided $1.4m for $26.6m and $41.6m, respectively.

56% weekend drop, with around 72% drop in China. Expected a worse drop seeing China's daily grosses, looks like the other territories are holding up well. (It dropped 57% last week, which means the drop in territories not counting China is better than last weekend.)

Looks like a finish between 695-710m

It's got 20 mil in it domestically. It would have to vanish internationally in order to not reach 700. And if it's true that the hype in Venezuela is big and it can do 10 million there, then 500 OS is still alive. I think it can finish in the 715-720 range.

Finally! That's why the BOM gross was different from all other websites (and also, the only one that is accurate). Thanks for this!  :)

X-Men: DofP needs about $485M overseas to surpass Cap 2 worldwide (maybe even less). With the China gross as close to zero as it could possibly be (the film only earned $2.1M last weekend), I'm not expecting that market to greatly affect its drops from now on. Previously the film had very steep drops in the market, from $21.8M on its second wknd to $7.8M on its third and to $2.1M on its fourth. Similarly the OS wknd dropped from $95.6M to $41.2M and then to $18.2M. However, next weekend will probably not see such a big drop, although the World Cup will be in full effect and that is bound to have some impact. If it can manage a respectable hold next wknd (a drop less than 50%), then it has chances of reaching $485M. But that is its only chance cuz the week after sees the release of Trans4mers, so X-Men is guaranteed to drop steeply from that wknd onwards.

TF4 will open in quite a lot of international markets (including majors, such as UK and France) only after the 4th of July - in some cases as late as the 10th. It will be a huge international presence, but not the all-consuming one you might get from a day-and-date release.

That's an interesting fact. Didn't know that.
