Ezen Baklattan
If the movie is half as retro as the vibe these posters are giving, the score will probably the Giacchino-est Giacchino that could have possibly been Giacchino'd.
Jonwo
I assume with it being Star Trek's 50th Anniversary, the retro posters are just a homage to the past films.

Slow piano followed by some 'epic' music for the thirtieth time this year, some destruction porn with the ship (which we already saw in the last movie), and then some shots of people yelling at each other about Kirk needing to save the day I just really don't see what people found effective here? But then again I liked the Beastie Boys trailer, stood out from the rest of the Zimmery music and angst I remember people praising the STID marketing pre-release too. Audiences liked the crew goofing around together in ST09 and its marketing and then both sequels have sold themselves as "the ship blows up, the crew is lost and Kirk needs to save them" Hopefully angry Idris Elba with all that shit on his face spices it up more than sad Cumber

It's full of epic music, angst and drama / action. One of the best trailers in recent years, btw.

And yes the music was similar, worked a lot better when every single summer release wasn't being sold the same way
AniNate
ST09's trailer didn't try to manufacture tension (ie no BS horn/alarm sound effects). It was just "This is the story we're telling. We'll have some cool action scenes and good vs. evil drama. You in?"
Asyulus
Good trailer, better than the first one.
BK007
Second trailer's pretty good. Reminds me of the first movie. We can just ignore into Darkness ever happened. But that's the problem. That's what a lot of movies feel like. A neverending franchise hitting familiar beats. It's just very stale. From Civil War to Jason Bourne to Dory and all. Just kind of unnecessary. All of them. Ryan Reynolds
we don't know the quality yet, but with low key marketing from Paramount it will take a miracle to open above 60m, probably could have better legs with different release date
