Point Break | December 25, 2015 | China Release on December 3rd, 3 weeks before the US.

The biggest (only?) thing the movie has going for it right now is that fact that literally every other movie vacated the Christmas corridor for release thanks to Star Wars. This will work as an alternative for anyone who wants to watch literally anything else at the movies, until Tarantino releases Hateful Eight at the same time like he did with Django.

Hateful Eight will be released on December 25 for sure. Plus Joy and Concussion are also there. And a new Alvin movie. In The Heart of the Sea will probably be making nothing by then. WB is killing two movies in December. Point Break would be much better in September, January, February or April, IMO.

And let's not forget Sisters. Massive balls by Universal if they keep his release day on the same day as Star Wars.

There is a pretty good history of female targeting movies doing well after being released the same day as highly anticipated fanboy movies. Mamma Mia thrived even when TDK was breaking records. Sisters and Greek Wedding 2 next year will not have huge budgets, so they don't need to do blockbuster business, just provide an alternative for people who want to watch something else apart from the big releases.

Have to admit, that poster looks cool. My dad loves to surf, and anything surfing (even the point break film despite hating Keanu) so lets see if he's interested in this...

Edit: yes he is

First of all. Point Break Would not better in September because WB has Black Mass set up for that month, January, February & April are way to crowded. IMO that's still bad and Universal Is keeping Sisters on the same weekend as Star Wars because they are some who are not into lightsabers & the force
