three days? Catching Fire has been playing for five days at least in many countries. Also, it opened in nearly every major market except France and Italy but it had China which most blockbusters don't have this early on.

What is $6m in tickets sold? Not a substantial increase from THG but an increase nonetheless (THG adjusts to $155m)

 

Going from THG's $155M to CF's $161M is a little over 1 million tickets. Add in IMAX and it probably drops a little under 1 million or is right on the line. Youre right, not a big increase, but its still a success.

CF needs 2.48x legs to reach 400m, THG had 2.67x so I don't that's out of the question yet especially with Thanksgiving and Winter Break soon.

Lionsgate needs to bring some premieres to Shanghai, Seoul, and Rio for Mockingjay.

Tokyo as well. There is room to grow the Asian market, i dont think it has reached its peak there yet.

Japan? It could double HG and make $10M. that is not trivial. Japan tends to behave different from other asian markets.

Looking at Captain Phillips' numbers and what a terrible drop. It surely was greatly affected by the big lost in theatres. Well it just passed the $100M so good.

Remember CF does not get a good 3rd weekend drop like THG as all films drop 60% on the weekend after Thanksgiving. 

 

 

That is why I dont see it topping THG yet.

Yes they defenitely do have crappy taste(outside Japan for sure).
