I love the Temple of Doom. It is just an awesome movie. However, Return of the Jedi is the 5th best movie that I have ever seen. It's just incredibly wonderful.

 

I have to go with Temple of Doom as the answer for which is worse. However, they are both all-time great movies.

I am a fan of both, but Temple of Doom is way worse.

 

That is not a slight on ToD, but more just how much I like ROTJ. ROTJ is easily the worst of original SW trilogy, but I still really enjoy it.

 

The Jabba's Palace opening scene is fantastic and by far the best thing out of either movie. Also, Yoda dying still makes me kind of tear up.

The rest is still the best of the series.

The first act on Tatooine could have been tightened up a little bit. 

 

It's not that the Ewoks are bad, it's just that Lucas catered to the kid-friendliest denominator with them. The original draft for the first Star Wars movie had Wookiees teaming up with Rebels to destroy the Death Star, so it really makes you wonder what if Lucas went back to that well for Return of the Jedi.

Temple of Doom is pretty rad too, with the exception of the kid and the lady Indy's hanging around with in that one.

The ROTJ space battle, now that was totally awesome shit. Masterful editing and model usage. You could have built the entire finale around that epic showdown alone, it was so well done.

 

Makes me hunger for a Rogue Squadron TV show (drawing from the Dark Horse comics and the Stackpole novels) very much.
