grim22 Posted December 31, 2013 Share Posted December 31, 2013 So the whole family decided to go watch 47 Ronin, since it was Tuesday and tickets were cheap at Cinemark. 9 of us in total. Weirdly enough, everyone seemed to really enjoy the movie. You can see that they spent money on it, everything looks really good. The script is weird since it can't decide if Reeves is the hero or not and the focus of the story keeps shifting from person to person. The action scenes are actually pretty well done. Reeves can't seem to emote though, his tone of voice doesn't change even when he is being dragged away and may be seeing his love for the last time. Wasn't A Whole New World #1 on the Hot 100? And I know pretty much all the other ones had a top ten or two as well and multi platinum soundtracks. Let It Go hasn't even gone top 50 on the Hot 100 yet and the soundtrack is a long ways from Platinum. It's certainly no juggernaut in that area. Different times though. Music business has changed drastically since then. Not making excuses but those songs from Disney era are classics. I still listen to A Whole New World. Just a beautiful song. But yeah that was a time when movies not just animated movies had signature songs and soundtracks. All that has changed. I'll probably be posting less for the foreseeable future as I work on some personal projects outside of work, but I'll still be popping in here and there when I'm able. While I'm at it, I'd like to thank you all and the entire staff for making this such a great movie community.
