TLK
Guardian's BAFTA liveblog was awesome. 7.40am GMTHere we go ... supporting actress is being read out by Bard the Bowman. Jennifer Lawrence is there obviously. As is Sally Hawkins. And someone else and someone else. And they're on to two-three other categories before I've typed this. Updated at 7.40am GMT 7.42am GMT Wow ... they're talking quickly. Grab bag of names snatched out of the flurry ... Steve McQueen, director. Act of Killing, documentary, David O Russell, director, Philomena, film. Sandra Bullock for Gravity, did we say Philomena. Oh God. Liveblogging. Never again. http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/jan/08/bafta-nominations-2014-liveblog?CMP=twt_fd

TLK
Gravity led with 11 nominations Hustle and Slave - 10 nominations. Captain Phillips 9 nominations. Behind The Candelabra and SMB 5 nomination It is between 12YAS and Hustle at this point. This may change next week with Oscar nominations but based on GG and BAFTA these two are the clear leaders. Jack Nevada
Can someone explain how Gravity is British to me please? I guess in the same way that Harry Potter was British. I know the producer of Gravity is British.
Jake Gittes
So they aren't fans of Dallas Buyers Club, that much is obvious. Shame to see Redford snubbed here too, and it's extremely weird that Damon gets nominated for Behind the Candelabra while Douglas doesn't, no matter how crowded the lead actor category may be.
Jack Nevada
DBC comes out in the UK in February so they probably didnt even screen it.
Fancyarcher
Can someone explain how Gravity is British to me please? The producer was British. Also it was pretty a shitty year for UK films in general, aside from a few gems. They even had to resort to stealing U.S. films like Saving Mr. Banks (which was shot in California, even the Australian scenes), for best "British" films. Hatebox
Wolf still hasn't been released in the UK so I'm surprised it got any noms at all.
SchumacherFTW
Wolf still hasn't been released in the UK so I'm surprised it got any noms at all. Never stops them from nominating other stuff every other year. Django, Lincoln and Flight hadn't been released by the time noms came out last year. stripe
Nebraska missed the cut in supp actress and Picture, but got three nominations. The snub in BP race for WOWS is not troubling, it showed with stregth in other hey cats. This year, mainstream options (Saving Mr Banks, Philomena) have done better than indie options (Her, Llewyn). It could happen again at the Oscars. Let's see how Her & Llewyn miss the cut...
CoolioD1
DBC comes out in the UK in February so they probably didnt even screen it. That's not it. It was screened and McConuaghey and Leto even did BAFTA q&as. Guess they just didn't go nuts over it like the americans are.
