Jessie
So why are we comparing Frozen to movies that came out 10-20 years ago when movies obviously had better legs? Frozen when comparing actual movies released around the same period like Despicable Me 2 and Toy Story 3 obviously holds up. Those movies had massive openings, but legs are the reason Frozen is holding up so we against them. Frozen has the best performance for an animated movie based in an icy setting if we don't include Ice Ages overseas performance, there you go . Jessie
Transformers came out in 2013? You learn something new everyday. Thought he meant this year lol. Disney are huge though, it should be interesting to see if they do more big budget riskier films like TLR because its not as if a few flop here and there is going to massively damage them. raniE
Transformers ain't Disney I wrote 2013, so Iron Man 3 and Froze are the films I'm talking about. Frozen just hasn't made it all the way yet.

Jessie
And best WW performance for an animated movie.. EVER! Not yet its not , and it will never be the most impressive. Finding Nemo's WW total would be huge if you adjusted for inflation and added 3d Edited February 17, 2014 by Jessie

JarJarBinks
As far as weekend estimates reporting goes, the studios with films towards the top of the charts tend to report slower on those given weekends. Couldn't tell you why, just tends to work that way.
baumer
Gone with the Wind is too old and it made its bucks on decades. Star Wars was a juggernaut in america only and it was re-released too. Titanic was a monster everywhere. A MONSTER. Adjusted with 3d, Titanic would be a 4B ww grosser at least. Titanic initial WW run is still the biggest of them all, nothing comes close, nothing. Star Wars was not a juggernaut in America only. In 1977 the international markets were much smaller than what they are now and SW performed well in overseas markets. You are really not giving all the facts when you compare an overseas performance in 1977 to an overseas performance in 2013.

a2k
Ha, as expected Lego was #2 on Friday...typical WB. I guess any studio would do that though considering the weekend win was a given and the pseudo-media would jump to bs stories about it being "beaten" over the weekend. ecstasy
Since when? The company has been around since the 20's, it's got some hits under its belt. LOL I know that. But I got the answer with Pirates. Thanks anyway.
ecstasy
If you would have looked yesterday, you would've seen Jack Ryan listed as the #1 film of the year on BOM. So it's not a flop, just not a big hit. a2k
Lego has posted double digits on all days of it's first 2 weekends. CF was the last movie to do that...so pretty impressive. Other films in 2013 that did that were Gravity, Iron Man 3, DM2, MoS, MU and Oz. Edited February 17, 2014 by a2knet
