Nope Capio did not cut a percentage deal. He was not a bo star in 1995-1996. Not even close lol. He was paid 2.5-3 mil. Which is pretty big for b list actor during that period

I do not think you needed to be a particularly big name to get some participation points (not necessarily access to full video, nor first dollar gross or a big %) on a lead role of a giant studio movie during that era, but DiCaprio was an Oscar nominated that was already a bit of a known name in Japan and elsewhere by the time Titanic released, rumors for what they worst were about an 40-50m type on a million that made I am not sure how much over the decades but probably not too far from 2 billion, that a 2-3% type of deal.

Everyone with speaking line in that movie probably made good money, even if you had only one you made nearly 50k in residual over the year,s apparently:

https://www.cinemablend.com/news/2302792/how-much-a-titanic-actor-with-one-line-has-earned-in-residuals

Even with SAG minimum I would imagine it would have been quite the payday for the 2 lead.

Cool that Leo and Kate and some of the cast  get 5--6 fig potential  checks for a movie over 20 yrs ago all👍👍😎😎. Nice

I think it will be tough to do as well moneywise as the original but I hope it has better visuals. The original blew my mind I can't believe it has been 10 years!

I know right kth friend. So crazy its been so long but if all goes right Cameron will prove yet again why hes king of the epics and making breakthrough that blow audiences away on an unprecedented scales.

I feel he will pull off a 3 peat world breaker. Hes the only filmmaker in history to pull off a 2 peat. Domestic and os world breaker in fact. Lets just think positive that Avatar 2 arrives as scheduled in 2021

Yep... Damen not even that powerful of a draw. Unless its Bourne lol

He was getting 30% of the gross on Elysium after break even (Blomkamp 5%, Foster 3% with 100k bonus at 160M and 170M dbo, he was a 20M + 10% (or 30-35% for profit participation) type of actor around that time.

Not true. Matt never had mega bo clout to warrant 30% after breakeven. Damon is very talented but most of his films that are successful he is not the lone big alist star. That is difference between Damon and the mega a list stars like arnold, Harrison Ford and  decapio level success. And frankly Bourne and that marooned in space film are the only successes Matt has helmed that are huge as a big a list leading man. The martian made.600 plus mil ww

I dont consider Damon a bo star on the levels of Arnold, Ford, Willis, Stallone, Hanks, Samuel Jackson, Densil etc. Bourne I can see him.getting maybe a deal like that but what else is huge from matt in 2000s besides the martian?

?  Source or on what can you base that it is not true ?

The distribution contract leaked:

https://wikileaks.org/sony/docs/03_03/RISKMGMT/Claims/CLAIMS%20-%20EO%20(eFILES%20Eff.%208-31-13;%2014)/E&O%20CLAIMS%20'eFILES'%20Eff%208-31-13%20to%208-31-14/Elysium%20-%20MRC%20II%20Distribution%20Company%20LP%20agr.pdf

Talent participation is at page 40 of 112

2. Matt Damon: 30% of 100% of the defined gross proceeded from and after 0% Breakeven.

Why would I have been making stuff up about Damon compensation on movies ?

30% after breakeven is big but not has big has the name you listed got in their peak, with their first dollar gross deal. It is not unusual for a non-franchise studio movie with name's to get close to 50% of the profit going to cast, director, writer, producers & production company, when a star is the only big name in a clear lead role, 20-30% profit participation isn't rare (Will Smith got 50% to him alone after a certain of the bo on some movies), are they getting 100% HV, 80% only 20% ?, with or no off the top, some bonus of other people removed, etc... will change..

The Ocean franchise, True Grit, he went above 100M 15 tiems in the 2000s before Elysium released.

There is a reason why he is a fixture in the rumored top paid actor of the year according to Forbes estimate:

https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-37193973

2015:

  1. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson - $64.5m (£48.8m)
  2. Jackie Chan - $61m (£46.2m)
  3. Matt Damon - $55m (£41.6m)
  4. Tom Cruise - $53m (£40.1m)
  5. Johnny Depp - $48m (£36.4m)
  6. Ben Affleck - $43m (£32.6m)
  7. Vin Diesel - $35m (£26.5m)
  8. Shah Rukh Khan - $33m (£25m)
  9. Robert Downey Jr - $33m (£25m)
  10. Akshay Kumar - $31.5m (£23.9m)

Why do you say that ?

it would have caused a problem for Paul Greengrass and for all my friends on The Bourne Ultimatum, so I couldn’t do it

What does it have to do with one ego to respect previous engagement ? Avatar had a summer 2008 release at some point, with a februray 2007 shoot, Bourne Ultimatum shoot started October 2006, quite possible it simply was a scheduling conflict.

Here's a shot of someone taking a shot of Jon taking the shot he posted a few days ago. Anyone have any ideas on what that object might be? is it a miniature of an underwater RDA research lab?

We know there are going to be "marine vessels" in the sequels. Could be one of those sinking.

Disover more of the Avatar saga in this direct prequel to the film Avatar 2!

James Cameron' screenplay, "The High Ground," was intended as the first sequel to the biggest blockbuster of all time, Avatar. Discarded in favour of other ideas, the original screenplay is being adapted into a three-part graphic novel series.

It has been almost a decade since the humans were forced to leave Pandora - but now they're returning - with an armada of heavily-armed starships! After years of peace, Jake Sully has settled down with Neytiri and raised a family, so for him, the stakes are even higher than when he first went to war against the corporate might of the RDA.

Adapted for comics by award-winning author Sherri L. Smith (The Toymaker's Apprentice, Orleans, and others), and illustrated by Brazilian artist Guilherme Balbi, Avatar: The High Ground, Volume 1 - Advent to War ventures into all-new territory in the Avatar saga, and is a direct prequel to next year's release of the film Avatar 2!
