Avatar: The Way of Water | 16 DEC 2022 | Don't worry guys, critics like it

Finally got to see the movie, surprised by how long it took me considering how excited I was

bit too tired to go into it right now but ....

My dad said it was beautiful (not just talking about the visuals, which I stopped noticing 10 min in, same with the 3D), and even if took me almost an hour to get engaged and there were some uninteresting and/or slow moments (still managed to feel like 2 hours despite of that), I find it difficult to disagree

movie did sometimes feel like 2 hours of a 4 hour story though (2 and 3 were initially one movie so it makes some sense), and I feel like that explains most of the "problems" the movie has

8.6/10

will watch it again on friday (hfr that time) and I wouldnt be surprised to see the score rise a bit

I like avatar way too much to make a serious attempt at reading leaks, so this is just curiosity ; just saw someone mentioned that the 2018 title leaks also brought with them plot leaks for all 5 movie that at least in 2s case were pretty accurate, said person claimed to have read said leaks and mentioned how ambitious the plot became after 2

had never heard anything about plot leaks, was that person bs'ing?

Best to watch a movie seeing as little as possible after a busy day of work.

You'll ruin the mysticism, suspense, and genuine thrill for yourself.

told you RO wasn't going to be a day over Avatar after Monday 😉. And I made that call before Monday, I knew it was going to be close on that day, the only one I wasn't sure.

The last day where I see A2 will be the most vulnerable is on Wednesday, but pretty sure RO has lost too much steam at this point

Well so far its me and jimbo with the biggest 4th Weekend predicts.

Jimbo:56m

Kal: 57-58m

. Whats everyone's 4th weekend?

I think we will push Avatar 1 to 3rd place this week. Feels like alot of repeat business and folks who waited out the crowds and want to get those premium showings are coming all week long and especially on weekends.

Wow almost 70m 3rd weekend(66). That's like no drop and a.slight increase over the 2nd weekend..

Let the insanity begin!

A2 for 800-900m??? Wow!

There is a very real and very entertaining possibility of ATWOW overtaking Titanic - either domestic or worldwide - but by a slim enough margin that Titanic leapfrogs it upon its re-release next month. Cameron taking #3 worldwide from himself twice in a matter of weeks would be incredible.

It will beat Titanic domestically and ww

So that scenario could happen if re release is huge and would be too crazy and funny indeed.

Wow I will be watching Titanic's 25th anniversary run bigtime. 😉👍

If A2 hits 700 mil or more in Feb , it will be hard for Titan to take it down Domestically but you never know. I always thought a proper re-release  of Titanic with alot of theaters might make 400-600m ww. Hah hah. Let's see how big they go with it Brother. Nice!

Going to catch this again for a 3rd time, when I'm not busy and everything clears up. Which premium format do you guys think is preferable?
IMAX 3D or Dolby 3D?

I heard good things about laser imax. My next showing is 3d 4dx. Then I  hope we have a laser imax. My final viewing I might try that format.

No 4dx brother Goat?

Well, weekend #3 has come and gone, I think Jim and more specifically Disney now have the answer they've been looking for, $1.443 Billion up to Jan 2/2023, will pass TGM today or tomorrow, it's a done deal.

The theatrical release has already more than covered the production budget for WoW, whether it's $250, $350 or $450 million.

I've actually never gotten the chance to have gone to one. Did a quick google search on 4DX. It sounds very experimental and esoteric. Maybe when Avatar 3 comes out next year.

Cool your going to love it man. Just rem to get reviews on the particular 4dx theater if possible. The people have to follow the settings JC or whoever recommends for A2 for the best and full experience. Seats can even tilt you fwd and give a feeling of hovering as well as bank you left and right , up and down etc. Then you have lightining , clouds and mist effects, wind and smells. I heard some have heat lol.

Outstanding premium experience. Pity we can't combine 3d 4dx with the Laser hdr Imax huge 80-100 foot screens. If they could make that affordable and everywhere , folks would see avatar 1 and 2 routinely a few times a month. HAH HAH.

AVATAR2 is proving that some of the biggest markets of AVATAR1 aka France and Germany are still insanely in love with this franchise. It also performs extremely well in emerging markets like India and Vietnam and minor markets like Eastern Europe, already becoming top10 or even top5 all time grosser in some of these markets within 3 weeks. Even underperforming (opening wise) big markets like UK and Australia are also showing great legs. The whole world loves AVATAR. And a normal China will easily make up whatever numbers might be lost in some markets for AVATAR3.
