This is potentially a huge discovery. One day we'll touch down on Mars this discovery should give people hope that they will find remnants of some sort of life on Mars. Just think what thrives in our salt water oceans, the same could have happened on Mars million or billions of years ago when it had an atmosphere.

Maybe, maybe not, but you still shouldn't discount this discovery. "Basic" biology is all we know, so this discovery increases the likelihood that life either once inhabited or does inhabit Mars today, based on the available knowledge we have.

If people don't forget about the announcement by the end of the week then yeah, I would expect the film may have a slightly improved opening.

Don't know if it will improve the opening or not. Can't hurt, but the hype for this movie was huge anyway. I'm guessing 62m OW. I'll be happy if it goes over 50m though.
