Watching True Lies...great action movie. The kind of movie you just dont see nowadays anymore. Cameron at his best. Avatar is a joke compared with Aliens, T-2, True Lies....

Cameron's successes are sci-fi classics, his failures are the biggest blockbusters of all time. The man cannot lose.Hail Cameron.

I agree. The biggest movie stars of the last thirty years in chronological order are probably Harrison Ford followed by Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Johnny Depp, and now Robert Downey Jr. Cruise is definitely the most consistent among these actors.

Downey's career is interesting: he is just okay as an indie actor but he is perfect as an old fashioned devil-may-care movie star ala Clark Gable. And he got 2 mega-franchises to fall back on. My advise to Downey is to sign on with IRON MAN 4 and see how it goes.

TRUE LIES kinda loses steam in the latter part of the second act, but still... awesome fun. (The wife-surveillance hijinks are amusing but over-long and they slowly kill whatever momentum was built up in the first half. But Cameron regains the momentum and then some once Arnold and Jamie Lee get to the island, and the causeway sequence is still one of my all-time favorites.)

Speaking of Jim, it seems nobody mentioned Jim Carrey as one of the huge bankable stars. He absolutely ruled the BO for about 10 years.

The penguin movie was his Jack and Jill.It was downhill from there. Now he can't even get Kick Ass 2 to hit 30 m DOM.Dumb and Dumber Too will be the final test. If that bombs it's a wrap.
