Melvin Frohike
i showed the 90 second trailer to 5 different classes so fast this week (Koreans aged 10 to 14) and it's no exception to say every last student thought the thing was absolutely awesome and wanted to see it. from this small sample if Disney markets well hil big hero could take korea by storm Wow, maybe Big Hero 6 will have the type of appeal that the Kung Fu Panda movies did in South Korea, and those grossed $29M and $41M. Oh great, now I've gotten my hopes up.
DAJK
To be honest, I would be surprised if this didn't at least match Tangled OS. I remember watching Wreck-it-Ralph's OS #s 2 years ago, and I was like "why is it doing so badly?" I didn't know back then about releasing a movie on different dates in different countries... I don't think the release pattern will hurt Big Hero 6; I think it will build up anticipation for the film. It's target audience (kids) I doubt will be the crowd that streams the movie online. Dingdong123
That's an awesome number for Russia! It's actually doing great so far on the territories it has been released. Tangled's OS number is definitely within reach.

yjs
From what was posted above, BH6 still doesn't have any China and Korea release dates?? Opens sometime in January in Korea. China not so sure. Maybe it won't even have a release there since HTTYD2 also got skipped.
Melvin Frohike
China not so sure. Maybe it won't even have a release there since HTTYD2 also got skipped. Are you positive that the latter got skipped in China? http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=intl&id=howtotrainyourdragon2.htm Maybe you're thinking of Japan, where it had a good chance of bombing anyway. As for Big Hero 6, all of the available slots for foreign movies in China have been taken for this year, and Disney probably wanted to release it there next year anyway (closer to the Chinese New Year if possible, I would guess, although I'm unfamiliar with the Chinese box office).

TServo2049
It will get released in Japan. Disney usually releases their November animated films in March (cf. Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen's epic run) HTTYD2 didn't get a Japanese release because Fox has largely skipped on theatrical releases for their recent animated stuff. (I am hoping they don't do this with Peanuts, because Snoopy is HUGE in Japan.) Edited November 25, 2014 by TServo2049
