I had this guy at my school who would bring a laptop and watch my little pony through all of his classes, never talked to the guy though

Pretty much everyone in my office watch Adventure Time on the projector during small breaks. The Pony thing does seem weird though, the thing that bothers me the most is when you see grown men covered with all the pony merchandise, it's like the middle aged fat guy that offers kids free candy from his van, he could be the nicest man on earth I just don't want my kid near it.

Is there any other male out there besides me who just thinks Friendship Is Magic is simply an entertaining cartoon, without being freakishly obsessed with it? Anyone?I've seen the first few episodes, I liked them, maybe someday I'll watch more, but I do not in any way consider myself to be a Brony.

Oh, man. I read up on DashCon today, and it's a trainwreck. I feel bad for the people who went, and the guests they invited.

 

Back in the late 90s, I helped found an anime con. We often didn't know what we were doing, and there were ample problems and mistakes made, but it did survive and remains quite successful today. Seeing a con screw up to this magnitude makes me cringe.

Anime is the worst one. I've seen grown men go nuts for things that border on the pornographic and pedophilloic. Unlike US comics that have gone to great lengths to tone down fan service, anime seems to be adding more and more and the fans eat it up. Great shows and shows with great potential financially in the West (Fairy Tail could have been HUGE) are bogged down with fan service.I'm not saying all anime fans are bad, but being insanely openly passionate about aspects of Anime, Comics, TV, and film, one would consider taboo is just weird (in my opinion) Edited by AJG
