I dont understand how its working. Venezuelan economy is in shit and $ reserves are critical. How is the socialist govt letting studios exchange for movie tickets at the preferred rate which I thought was for priority goods. This is a country that has shortage of basic things !!!

 

I am sure this aint lasting long for sure.

If Venezuela defaults and let the market fix the value of its currency the Venezuela box office market will completely collapse in dollars, that would be such a huge decline...A movie reaching $20m today would be under $5m in that case, and I'm optimistic..It's probably inevitable, the current situation can't last so we should be prepared.

The studios do NOT get the favorable exchange rate from the government. 

The $ that the studios stated are just PAPER amount - a bragging rights, it's nothing to do with what they can actually take out of the country.
