According to the South East Asia Press Tour Event he is surprisingly 'big' in e.g. Singapore... too. Tons of interviews and articles then (I think around the 16 July, a few days long)

Hence the reason they seem to have picked him (and Zoe Saldana) to accompany Gunn.
