It seems reasonable to believe The Kents don't play that big of a role if their casting is being announced well into filming + the actors being of the lower-profile variety (as opposed to certified A-listers like Costner and Lane).

Gunn is really going a different route than Donner, Singer, and Snyder who all cast Oscar Winning A-LIST actors in the Parent and Villain roles.

The whole cast of the film is very weak to be honest, only one medium-profile actor (Nicholas Hault), the rest are a bunch of nobodies and the usual actors he casts in this movies (Wife and Brother, what a nepotist SOAB).

Probably to save money but I think the BO draw of the film depends too much on the Hero starring the show.

His wife's not in the movie, and his brother is only a rumor that could be proven false. You can dismiss the cast all you want, but at least stay accurate to the facts.

You are really going to hate Francis Ford Coppola's movies if you think James Gunn casting his wife or his brother is bad.

By not getting big names, at least the budget should be lower compared to MOS.

Gunn's wife will be super flattered some posters on BOT consider her to be the boogeyman.

Recent casting choices have confirmed $200m opening weekend.

Nonsense.Ithink the choices are good ones, but I have not seen any that guarantee a 200 Million opening.

Depends on how good they are. Talia Shire turned out to be perfect for Conniw in Godfather.

How DARE James Gunn cast up and coming actors alongside beloved character actors!!! He should be casting A-Listers like Henry Cavill!!! RAWR

In any Superman movie, Superman is the real attraction, not the actor playing him COme to thinks of it Christopher Reeve was pretty much an unknown when he was cast as Supes.

WB's made public statements in tax credit filings that the budget will be the same size (inflation adjusted) as Man of Steel's trade-reported budget (which is presumably 10%+ smaller than the real budget for the film).

Given how poorly some recent dc films played (and how Zaslov nuked Batgirl in part because it didn't feel "cinematic"), I doubt they're skimping on the film's budget. This is going to launch or damn a big silo of WB just as Zaslov prepares to sell the company.

Batman Begins budget, adjusted for inflation, is also 234 million dollars, which is about where Man of Steel was.
