I just think the found footage approach looks really awful for it. Really wish it wasn't done like that. Also the noose isn't a very exciting weapon.

amen.  4 was on AMC the other day and i watched it.  Really wish that would have reinvigorated the franchise, I totally dug it (even if they actual killer was weak)

Exactly! I really don't get why Scream 4 underperformed, it's my fave in franchise by far. :/

Scream 4 probably would have been good if they didn't eff with Kevin's script. The killer reveal and motive were pretty perfect though.

I was so excited for Scream 4 and was predicting an opening weekend over $50m. Was shocked when it got $18m!

Scream 4 was a decent movie, but it's rather obvious what it's problem was.

 

Just think back to why we all liked Scream so much in the first place when it came out. Remember? People were declaring some types of horror movies dead. And then Scream came around and it felt so fresh and different. Unabashedly made for horror fans, with full knowledge of all the horror movies and cliches we'd already seen. Now look at the very title of Scream 4, and you should easily be able to spot the problem with it's very existence.

I think it's underperformance was to do with Dimension/Weinstein and marketing department.

And Scary Movie.
