My problem with horror recently is EVERYTHING IS GHOSTS! Like the last 7 or 8 mainstream horror movies have been about ghosts in some way or another. Not that I have a problem with ghost movies it's just add a little variaty. Maybe the reason the box office is so underwhelming is because audiences are sick of ghosts.

I agree it's like the slasher genre from back in the 80's because after Friday The 13th,Halloween,and A Nightmare On Elm Street all doing well everyone wanted to repeat those success with some mixed to poor results because several slasher movies will be out every other month, which is what the supernatural genre is kinda becoming because of The Conjuring, Paranormal Activity, and Insidious becoming box office hits with a low budget in mind then others are being released every other month especially looking at this calendar and last year's calendar all the horror films were mostly supernatural based but only a few others have done well(Ouija, and Annabelle) while some have done so-so(The Lazarus Effect, and Unfriended) so really studios and filmmakers really know that what they can think about is all supernatural it's a shame but I hope that can decide something new and effective and bring more like The Conjuring or Insidious something with atmospheric horror and no jump scares.

They could have made a comeback with Scream 4 but U.S. audiences fucked that one up for us.

Yeah I agree that was a disappointing result and sad because my theater was packed on it's first day in theaters oh well we"ll see how Friday The 13th does next year or maybe slashers can make a comeback with VOD

I think it's time for a straight up slasher movie to make a comeback.  Scream revitalized the genre 20 years ago, it's time to do it again.

On a different note, I just saw the Lazarus Effect.  Pretty damn creepy and a real downer ending.  I liked it quite a bit.

Krissy...u didnt like It Follows?

No :( I really was excited for it. I thought it was quite stylish and liked the score. But overall I thought the film was very try-hard and the characters were awful. I was literally only remotely scared or uneasy just once.
