I remember that first trailer gave me a lot of hope. It looked like it could be something really special right off the bat.

Do you think WOM will be there tribe?

I think so. It's pretty much a Pixar movie through the mid-section, even overdoing it a bit. Definitely their most accessible film.

Yes, but I'm still glad it had some of that horror element to the movie. But, I don't see the Pixar comparison though.

By the way, liking this to win the Best Animated Feature at the Oscars next year. Thinking Disney like Zootopia, Dory and Moana will splinter the vote allowing for  Kubo to take it.

I'm obviously biased, as you can see by my avatar, but I don't think that's likely.

Academy voters aren't obligated to prove they've watched all of the nominees. And we know that the voters sometimes choose based on shallow reasons, as seen here:

So Kubo has a lot going against it if it's not commercially successful.

My college usually had movie nights, but don't recall recent flicks being common.

Obviously, it depends on what school you go to. My school just so happens to have a big auditorium that shows movies.

Mhmm, there were free film screenings at an auditorium that was actually very close to my residence. But it was never anything recent unless it was a niche film.

My college has movie nights every week. Older and newer movies. The newer movies are at least 3 months old, of course.

Cool. Still say you should see it in theaters. but that's pretty cool, and don't blame you for taking advantage of it.

My college had $3 weekend late night admission

While I can see Kubo winning at this point, I think it has the reception that enough people would legitimately vote for it over the Disney movies. Think it just depends on if it sells enough tickets to convince them to actually check it out.
