Jennifer Lawrence still has the magic touch.

She was in an episode of Medium (Arquette)
She played the younger version of Pike's character in The Devil You Know
She was in Like Crazy with Felicity Jones
and she's really good friends with Emma Stone.
June Squibb played her grandma on "The Bill Engvall Show".

what kind of power.

Jennifer actually played the younger version of Arquette's character in Medium.

After Charlize, Rosamund and Patty, only actress who has played an older version of JLaw and hasn't got nominated for an Oscar is Rebecca Romjin from X-Men movies. Even Queen Julianne is finally winning her well deserved Oscar after sharing a screen with JLaw in Hunger Games movies and soaking in her magical powers. bow.gif

Bradley Cooper also went from a Hangover/People's Sexiest Men guy to four time Oscar nominee after becoming JLaw's regular costar. Hopefully Edgar Ramirez is the next one to benefit.

Five out of six SW movies haven't gotten a BP nom, why would this one? It has a chance, of course, with the expanded field, but that hardly means it's automatic.

1 out of 3 of the acclaimed ones got nominated in a harsher time period for sci-fi in a smaller BP field. ESB likely would have gotten in if they had done the category the way it is today. Let's not pretend we should count the PT, those weren't even highly regarded by audiences. I'm saying if the movie is on the quality level of the OT, that's when I'll be surprised it doesn't get in in the expanded field. If it's on the PT's quality level, then of course it has no shot in hell.

I wanted to like that movie but I'm now allowed to enjoy a movie about a soldier sniper killing people in a war.  These kinds of movies are evil and feed upon morally bankrupt societies... thanks to so many bloodthirsty savages, this latest one is gonna be a BO giant... negativeman-55f.png

He was killing Nazis though so it's a free pass

If it's universally liked and a huge hit, why wouldn't it though? It would be like Avatar and Gravity not making it. I think it will have to be a really strong year for it not to make it if it delivers in a big way.

Disney is absolutely not going to be sending out screeners for Ep 7. If the academy wants to vote for it, they will have roughly 20 days to watch it in theaters for themselves. They will probably send the sizzle reel for the VFX bake-off at best.

Star Wars 7 is one of those movies with impossibly high expectations.  When it comes out, I'm sure there are gonna be legions of fanboys saying its the worst movie made since The Phantom Menace regardless of reviews which could hinder its chances at a BP nod even if the reviews are great.

I'm guessing about half those people will be the same ones who hated Star Trek 2 for reasons most people already know.

I think Star Wars could defo get a BP nomination just as Gravity did last year, and other big blockbusters that dominate headlines (and it'll help that SW is released so late in the year), but most of its nominations will be in sound/visuals.

IMO, every Star Wars film should win Best Sound Editing every single year, regardless of whether a Star Wars film is released in that year or not.
