The Panda
It's always fun to make blind predictions a year out and check back a year later to see how bad they were (reason for this early thread). Fairly similar to how we predict the box office a year in advance. Last year I predicted Boyhood and only Boyhood correctly a year in advance for best picture, everything else was fairly bad. In the acting cats I got a few lucky guesses with Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke, and Meryl Streep. My year out predictions Best Picture Demolition The Hateful Eight In the Light Between Oceans Joy Knight of Cups The Other Side of the Wind Silence St. Jame's Place The Revenant Suffragette Best Director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, The Revenant David O. 4815162342
Don't you guys mean Jennifer Jason Leigh for Hateful Eight? Tamblyn's not listed on the IMDB cast list.
Jake Gittes
Amber Tamblyn isn't in The Hateful Eight,. Jennifer Jason Leigh is playing the character in the movie (and I'd love her to win).
Jake Gittes
Why are y'all predicting Hail Caesar? Isn't it getting released in February 2016? Knight of Cups seems like a pipe dream too. If Tree of Life barely got in, I don't know why this would. I predict Tarantino finally takes Picture and Director. It's not like we've seen any of the actual movies, and it seems realistic enough all things considering.
Jake Gittes
On the other hand, if DOR's Oscar begging turns out to be successful this time I'd like to know in advance so that I don't waste any attention on the whole thing. CoolioD1
??? He has been dead for over 20 years you know. The Other Side of the Wind is an Orson Welles movie shot in the early 70s that's finally getting a release this year. It would be cool but I doubt it comes of anything awards-wise. The Panda
??? He has been dead for over 20 years you know. The Other Side of the Wind is finally getting released this year after 30 years of trying to get it released. It is Orson Welles last movie. I really believe it could surprise in a Boyhood like manner.

I'd enjoy seeing that happen just because reactions would be utterly priceless.

Leyla
i usually fail @ predicts but 1 thing is for sure - Meryl Streep
coryallen30
Meryl Streep has confirmed that her role in Suffragette is a cameo. I took an acting class with her last May and she personally said "my part in Suffragette is inconsequential. I was only on set for a day." That said, she is in contention for Ricki and the Flash. coryallen30
For lead actors: Best Actor Leonardo DiCaprio, The Revenant Jake Gyllenhaal, Southpaw Josh Brolin, Hail, Caesar! Matt Damon, The Martian Matthew McConaughey, Sea of Trees Joaquin Phoenix might also sneak in for the new Woody Allen. Bradley Cooper in Joy is a supporting role. I predict an obvious win for DiCaprio. Best Actress Meryl Streep, Ricki and the Flash Julianne Moore, Freeheld Cate Blanchett, Carol Carey Mulligan, Suffragette Jennifer Lawrence, Joy While Nicole Kidman could sneak in for Queen of the Desert, something tells me this could go the way of Grace of Monaco. Another possibility is Emma Stone for the new Woody Allen, but she will have to really impress I think. Mulligan is leading Suffragette, not Streep - she is just a cameo. The obvious for supporting actors: Tom Hardy (The Revenant) and Rooney Mara (Carol). I am also wondering about Rachel McAdams as a potential supporting nominee for Spotlight. It's going to be an interesting film regardless. You've also got Michael Keaton in there, who will likely win this year. And Adam Driver for Silence seems like a possible bet for supporting as well. coryallen30
Why are y'all predicting Hail Caesar? Isn't it getting released in February 2016? Technically, that is the wide release date. I expect the film to make the rounds at festivals and I highly doubt this won't be given a qualifying run given that it's the Coen brothers. I'd expect a limited release. CoolioD1
It's nice to know dicaprio's win is "obvious" 13 months in advanced. watch him not even get nominated.
