Listen to ShawnMR on Movie Moan's Summer 2015 Box Office Predictions Spectacular

Recommended Posts

For all of you laughing hysterically at the podcast predicts, those guys on occasion absolutely nail a movie... especially one that's driven by lots of online fan buzz.

So.... beware.

So...Mad Max?

Remember when everyone was so sure Pacific Rim was gonna break $200M+ domestic?

Thinking Tomorrowland.

Not to mean but each year one film for some strange reason gets hyped up because it looks different even though it likely be a generic blockbuster .

Last year it was Godzilla and before Pacific Rim.

I wasn't on the forum then, were lots of people really confident in Pacific Rim? :o

Tomorrowland does star George Clooney, that's a pretty major difference.

I specifically recall them talking about Avengers 1 potentially being a disaster that would sink Marvel in their podcast that year so... that goes both ways  :P

But yeah, a lot of these movies are gonna hit or flop much harder than consensus would suggest. Wouldn't call many of these #s laughable

Other than that 200m Tomorrowland prediction

Thanks for that Neo, I didn't see that post :)

Some of those predictions are absurd. Ted 2 100M? Mad Max 70M? Jurassic World 170M?!

Mad Max doing $70 million is completely normal.

It's an R-rated mid-level tentpole sandwiched in mid-May between Avengers 2 and Tomorrowland/San Andreas. Anything more than $80 million DOM is a win for it.

But I agree that Jurassic World doing anything less than $225 million at this point would be a shock... it's got the month of June to itself, Chris Pratt is becoming an A-lister, Universal likely attached JW trailers to almost every showing of Furious 7, and the studio is on a hot streak

There aren't many true "fanboy only" movies this summer.
