Not really TA should have go down this year, it be odd if it continues standing for more years. 

 

Well it should have, but obviously AOU failed. It's really interesting that JW could be the film breaking the record. No one saw that coming.

How can you be "too excited" if a film is on pace to challenge the opening weekend record.

 

Plus, if being excited means Kelli is ready to have sex, then that gets the male population at this board excited too.

We're in summer, Sunday hold will be much better than TA1.

 

TA1's 18% would be a good Sunday hold for JP4 though. TA1 didn't have a NBA Finals game or Game of Thrones season finale on its Sunday, so those are two things that could keep JP4 from having a chance at something crazy like TDK's 8% hold. I would guess Universal will estimate a 20% drop tomorrow morning.

While JW taking TA's OW record is far from guaranteed, people vehemently saying it won't may be in some denial. Not only did it make more than TA OD, but it was less frontloaded comparing previews to the full day. The "Saturday increase in June" argument may be a moot point, as this film is family driven and many were shut out last night, and it's not behaving like a film in June should to begin with.

Relative to my own predictions, this is without question more shocking than any opening weekend in recent memory. Maybe ever.

 

A possible $200m? Maybe the all-time record? For a fourth movie in a franchise not named Star Wars?
