I'm excited for September and October because it seems like huge misfires among award-season contenders, ala movies like Australia, Blindness, Nine etc are very rare these days. It seems like most of the major movies that are expected to be good ARE good. Sure, there's letdowns like Unbroken and War Horse, but even those weren't awful. And early buzz is already strong for Everest, Steve Jobs, Martian, Sicario, Danish Girl (which I have zero urge to see) and Suffragette. Really, except Black Mass and Bridge of Spies, word on most of the fall slate is pretty damn spiffy (even on Goosebumps!) and I have no reason to think those movies won't be good, too. So this should be a fun fall. Hopefully Spectre, Star Wars, Creed, Hateful Eight, and Revenant live up to it.

Hopefully the 2nd Martian trailer drops this week, its been rated for 11 days now.

Anyone know what the early word/buzz on Crimson Peak is?  I'm hopeful for that one.

What's the story with The MARTIAN?? I'm intrigued.. Does Matt Damon play an Astronaut who discovers one or what??

Matt Damon plays an astronaut who is left behind on Mars when a manned mission is forced to abort due to a big sandstorm. He has to use the available resources left behind at the landing zone to stay alive until he can contact NASA and await a rescue mission.

It's kind of like the second half of Apollo 13, except on Mars instead of in space near the Moon.

It seems about as realistic as Gravity.

The book is very very very very into the science and explaining how it works. It relies on some technology we haven't invented or mastered yet, but in the context of all of that, the events ARE plausible.

Hopefully the 2nd Martian trailer drops this week, its been rated for 11 days now.

Anyone know what the early word/buzz on Crimson Peak is?  I'm hopeful for that one.

Nothing from any of the sites I read to find this stuff, but the trailers look interesting and inventive and I don't think GDT has a complete stinker up his sleeves. At bare minimum it should be a very interesting watch.

Stephen King really liked it, so there's that.

SOLD.. This sounds a lot like what they're trying to so right now with NASA trying to put together a manned mission to the red planet, except of course, it's a 1 way Journey and you're never coming back.. Would you do it?? How about it folks: If gibe the Opportunity to go to Mars knowing you wouldn't come back, would you go???

No, but I'd admire the hell out of anyone who did that.

2) 2014 (Jurassic World)

3) 2011 (Harry Potter vs Bayformers)

4) 2013 (Trek 2, Iron Man 3, MOS)

5) 2014 (GotG break out and TASM2 flopping)

6) 2010 (Inception)

I've heard mixed reports from screenings but praise for Chastain.

I smell a flop.

Victorian age horror has even less mass appeal than a spy movie set in the 50's/60's.
