All he needs to do is to avoid doing the formula which made some of his previous movies bad and disliked by people.

Well, The Visit has 62% on RT by critics, so at least it's more well-liked than those other 4 films you mentioned.

Really great for almost all holdovers.  That is a fantastic drop for The Martian and particularly Sicario.  Glad to see The Intern continuing to have some of the best holds and most of all glad to see Maze Runner finally getting some late legs.  Should close around 80, which is decent, but I would have liked to see it build on the first.  It at least guarantees that we get The Death Cure.

Not to mention that even good writers occassionally write stinkers e.g. Simon Kinberg with X-Men Days of Future Past and Fantastic Four. Given that film is the director's medium, a lot of decisions are usually down to the director, scripts tend to chop and change even throughout production

To be fair, Disney has alot more serious attempts at fairy tale blockbusters. The other studios rarely attempt them and when they do it's half-hearted.
