It probably will make around 1.9bil give or take 50mil WW. Still a little bit underwhelming for Jim but thats ok, there is only one James Cameron afterall. Without the 57mil Thursday preview number, the weekend daily numbers would of been even bigger. Edited December 20, 2015 by stuart360

That's a lot closer to 50/50 than I think many of us thought it would be. It would have been 50/50 but light sabers are too phallic.

filmscholar
I'm fine with "Jurassic" keeping something. It deserves it for shocking the world this summer. But fantastic opening, I'm even more excited for next weekend's numbers. I want a really nice drop. But to all of us that felt OW could fall in December. How good does it feel? I saw the overall forum average was pretty right on the money.

If their Sundays are open too and tons of people use is e.g. for buying gifts the drops are maybe nice, but the results far deeper / worse than in the summer, see my post with the examples. I mean Avatar on #76 of all of the best Saturdays of all time? And so on. Well, i was speaking about the drops and you directly quoted me. Those examples of yours just show that there has never been a hugely anticipated / fanbase fulled / blockbuster released in December, with the exception of the LOTR sequels and those were over a decade ago (Hobbit was smaller scale). But again, i'm not talking about absolute numbers here. Sundays ARE inflated in late December, shopping notwithstanding.

AniNate
Lol, great title. I think this record is going to hold up for a very long time. Theaters made every effort to ensure anyone who wanted to see it opening weekend would be able to. Hard to imagine any of the sequels being able to match this in hype.
