Not just mediocre, I personally think also this $155M second weekend, coming from a $250M OW, is laughable!

Reminder for the newbes as Clef seem to have forgotten the  too:

OW has always Thursday previews added, the 2nd weekend starts Friday at 6:00 o'clock in the morning (and has already to ~ 'share' the night before with the new releases)

= the 2nd weekend is always deeper

As bigger the previews...

Plus at X-Mas part of the cinemas opened late (see baumer's report of 15:00 o'clock) and part even closed down again early.

It's family time too, travel time.... And in some regions the same counts for Saturday too. Cinemas in malls... without an own entrance didn't even open, if the mall was closed too.

And so on....

It's hard to tell if people are actually being serious or are joking sometimes.

especially for some of us with English being a foreign language. So if you too have sometimes a bit of a problem, I am not longer asking myself so often if the ??? is based on a language difference (what I usually assume as a first reaction) or really not clear (enough) formulations :)

Thank you for clearing that up for me.

I'm guessing Disney will want to release the Bluray and DVD while the iron is hot, and won't care about losing some gross in the process.  As I recall, early video releases likely cost Frozen some money, particularly in Japan.

Force Awakens Blu-Ray release date is April 5, 2016.

Why would Disney try to hold down the box office of its biggest films?

Because by then, the money will be in home video rather than boxoffice.

I couldn't find a digital copy release date, but 1 month in advance of BD/DVD release  seems a little too much, IMO.  On Demand release might make more sense for a March date.

Aehm not sure about the correct words, I do not do downloads or ???

Is on demand not the same as digital copy?

= I mean the possibility to watch the movie via the internet before the disc versions get released = usually 3-4 weeks or so earlier
