Those of you predicting 1B are just right at the moment as those of you claiming it won't. It comes down to the 3rd week. That should give us a great idea of where it's headed.

most people went to see avengers...it made 620, most people went to see jw. it made 650. realistically avatar success is owed to repeat viewings JUST like titanic and screaming DiCaprio fans. this is aiming for $1 Billion which either means star wars has the biggest following of any franchise, book movie or entertainment piece in living memory or its getting a lot of repeat viewings

I can't see how Episode 8 won't be the most anticipated movie of 2017 even if Avatar somehow comes out in that frame. And yes they should move it to winter.

It was always going to be a decent % higher in fairness. Avatar opened to $77m, TFA previews were $20m less than that lol.
