tokila
It possible that people all going back to work help. I know its a simple anecdote, but in my office today about 10 of us were talking about TFA. 6 of us had seen 4 not. The 4 that had said they were going to see basically because everyone was saying it was great(the 6 of us all saying it was great convinced them). One of them had never seen SW and his wife did not want to go, but he was thinking about going. Of the 6 who had seen it only 2 of us had multiple viewings. 2 of the others said they would probably check it out again. RogueLeader
DAMN MAN! So RTH was right about that weekend figure being low! Truly the force is strong with this one! Still a shame it was only 90 million. I was hoping for like $95 or so if it wasn't going to do 100 million, but oh well. What can ya do?
RogueLeader
I'm curious what you guys think about the weekend declines going forward? Is it possible we might see smaller weekend declines as the weekends go forward and the drops will level out? It would seem to make sense, since the film opened so huge. Is that just wishful thinking? I don't know. Maybe it is a bad idea to keep getting my hopes up.
rustyspoons89
Tomorrow is my day off so I decided to see SW alone. It will be my first time seeing it alone and my 5th time seeing it in theaters. Reserved a D-BOX seat for only $5! (Discount Tuesday) Should be a fun ride. Never tried D-BOX before.

Harpospoke
1 hour ago, terrestrial said: Men’s rights activists declare victory over Star Wars By Mike Vago@mikevago Jan 4, 2016 5:44 PM Amid the box office records and critical praise heaped on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a few hyper-sensitive souls may have noticed a very small disturbance in the Force, as if dozens of voices cried out in terror, and were suddenly ignored. You see, while director J.J. Abrams has been praised for imagining a galaxy where the Force flows through all living things, not everyone sees it that way. In advance of the film’s release, the same “men’s rights activists” who took to the internet to complain about Mad Max: Fury Road took to the internet to complain that a series that gave women not named Leia only 63 seconds of dialogue across its first three movies was over-representing women. Horrified by the thought of a girl touching a lightsaber, MRAs attempted to organize a boycott of The Force Awakens, claiming that a film that acknowledges that women and people of color exist and can act in movies amounts to “SJW Propaganda.” And now, the results of that boycott are in, and the MRAs have declared victory. Return Of Kings, “a blog for heterosexual, masculine men” upset that their movie about space wizards has a girl in it, is estimating that The Force Awakens “lost $4.2 million because of our reporting.” (Forbes disagrees with this assertion, not that it matters to the Return Of Kings faithful.) They arrived at this number by extrapolating the results of a 565-person informal poll by their site’s roughly estimated monthly users, multiplied by average ticket price. It’s unimpeachably sound science, just like the sound TIE fighters make in space. So, to recap, a film that raked in a billion dollars worldwide in just 12 days and will most likely be the highest-grossing film of all time by the time you read this could have possibly made $1.004 billion if it hadn’t had a female lead. And while it’s unlikely Disney will make any changes to the series as a result, there’s little doubt that the MRAs will soldier on, like Stormtroopers taking shot after shot at Rey without ever hitting the mark. I gotta wonder why anyone gave these guys exactly what they wanted....national attention. They won that one. A tiny group of people with a tiny minority opinion which had no effect on anything and do not represent the views of society and they get headlines. Sad. 26 minutes ago, tokila said: It possible that people all going back to work help. It does make sense that there will be a lot of workplace conversation about SW7 which could give it some more momentum.

This needs to find a stable drop zone soon or I will start sweating 900mil. We are now equal to avatar (Avatar did 8 mil on the same day). After this point we should start bleeding some of the 390 mil lead over Avatar. Once that number gets to 240 1 bil is dead as a doornail. Right now I would will just be happy when it becomes the 1st movie to cross 900 million, and then makes some cash on top of that (maybe as high as 930-50 tops).
