Probably because some people either seems to be more interested about other animated films from either Pixar, Blue-Sky, Sony, Illumination...etc.

 

It's very sad when DWA, an animated studio....which had like 11 films that made over more than $500M WW....and now, they had slumps of smaller grossers...and people not giving it the attention it truly deserves.

The last DWA-film to hit over $200M DOM-wise, was Madagascar 3....

 

After that...they just sorta became hit & miss, box-office wise.

 

The Croods, HTTYD2 & Home did all do around $177-187M. But they also had DOM-underperformers like Turbo, Mr Peabody & Sherman & Penguins of Madagascar. Was the DW-apathy kicking in or what?

Yep, domestically DWA is struggling.

 

Also, this market is quite saturated with plenty of young and hungry players.

They 've been hit hard by Turbo And Mr Peabody,the marketing for HTTYD2 has been not good. Home somehow reached some state with gross with stars.

There is a rumor running around for DWA that Rise of the Guardians could be looking for a sequel......

 

Rise of the Guardians (while it wasn't that big of a big hit) made $103M DOM & $306M WW. How do you think that sequel will do? Especially with the big fanbase & this fan-art craze, the character, Jack Frost gets.
