TBH I don't remember there being a big backlash against Hugh when he was arrested (I was 14 at the time), which was around the time his first post-Four Weddings and a Funeral vehicle (the pregnancy comedy Nine Months co-starring Julianne Moore) opened. It sure made a lot of headlines though, especially since it happened around the time he had a new movie opening. lol.
