The Top 10 Biggest Second weekends among animated films. Zootopia ranks 5th.

Shrek 2 DW $72,170,363 16.4% 4,223 $17,089 $441,226,247 5/19/04
Toy Story 3 BV $59,337,669 14.3% 4,028 $14,731 $415,004,880 6/18/10
Shrek the Third P/DW $53,039,992 16.4% 4,172 $12,713 $322,719,944 5/18/07
Inside Out BV $52,323,354 14.7% 4,132 $12,663 $356,461,711 6/19/15
Zootopia BV $51,339,887 35.7% 3,827 $13,415 $143,955,013 3/4/16
The Incredibles BV $50,251,359 19.2% 3,933 $12,776 $261,441,092 11/5/04
The LEGO Movie WB $49,846,430 19.3% 3,775 $13,204 $257,760,692 2/7/14
Minions Uni. $49,274,730 14.7% 4,311 $11,430 $336,045,770 7/10/15
Finding Nemo BV $46,589,649 13.7% 3,391 $13,739 $339,714,978 5/30/03
Monsters University BV $45,607,745 17.0% 4,004 $11,391 $268,492,764 6/21/13

Interestingly, all except The Incredibles, The LEGO Movie and Monsters University had totals below $300 million and the first 2 had their second weekends inflated by a holiday and Monsters University was slaughtered by Despicable Me 2. This makes $300 million seem not that crazy of a total for Zootopia.

Color me impressed with the Zootopia hold - I really thought I had underestimated how much it would fall on Sunday - not how little it would fall! One more good hold and the 300m club is practically secured.

I dunno. As big of a fanbitch I am for Zootopia, I'd like to see Monday's numbers before I say for sure.

This is the first I've seen the word fanbitch anywhere...and I like it! Made me laugh. I think I'm a fanbitch of Zootopia as well, whatever that means. :P

That hold refers to the weekend holds.... while spring break is in effect for a lot of places over the next couple of weeks the weekends still will be out of proportion to what would happen in summer weekdays. If it can keep to around -30% (35m) then I would say 300m is pretty much locked (not 100% though it could pull an UP)

If bvs gets labeled as too dark for young kids, i see zootopia easily taking 300m.

If bvs draws the family crowd in a big way then even indirect competitionlike a Disney animation could suffer

Although road chip suggests that naive sell its of the new opener is could news for any random film that happens to be on cinemas so. ..

There's too that last March was horrendous in comparison to the past couple of years. With also, the surprising record breaking debut of Deadppol and now Zootopia then Batman Vs. Superman. The 1st quarter(January-March) could be the biggest ever since 2010. April will be probably ok considering Batman Vs. Superman, and The Jungle Book, and also potential modest budget hits like The Boss could help out as well.

I know. I want to see how Monday is so that I can have a basis for a weekend prediction.

10 Cloverfield Lane had a pretty good multiplier all things considered, hopefully the legs will be decent unless the 180-degree tonal shift in the third act impacts word-of-mouth.

10 Cloverfield Lane was pretty good although the ending was weird.

It should be fine, Spring Break is this week in most areas and families we be out and about for Zootopia. While the others could also bring some decent $$$ this week. But Zootopia will have another solid hold this coming up weekend, and Allegiant could debut in the low-to-mid thirties considering how the third movie trend usually does.

I'd like to know if the hold is going to be solid or amazing.
