Weekend Actuals (Page 96): Dory 73M | IDR 41M | CI 18.2M | Shallows 16.8M | Conjuring 7.7M | Jones 7.6M

Wow, so Dory did not rise more than 30% from Thursday to Friday. Sad to think about, considering other animations have jumped 50% in the span of the last 360+ days... but still a really good number, regardless, heading to 70M+ 2nd weekend as expected. Looks like that 500M number may be realistic after all.

DAYUM at The Shallows, it seems my under 13.5M bet on the casino has been murderkilled to the death. Walk ups are spreading. Sat bump could be pretty big.

Independence Day....  You know that the Jurassic World V2 dreams Fox had are SOOO destroyed now when JW made more money in its Thursday previews than ID2 in its opening day. That's what you get when you don't include Will Smith for whatever fucking reason.

Central Intelligence with a solid drop, 100M is a done deal at this point, me thinks. Conjuring 2 will probably struggle to get to the mark (:sadben:), but will wind up there too.

In what world did Independence Day 2 or Terminator 5 have potential?

T5 didn't, independence day did. If you disagree with that then you are simply wrong.

I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I think ID2 is going to have a soft drop next weekend with the Fourth of July in play.

Nothing extravagant, just smaller than the haters want to see.

I still haven't seen it yet,and my family is planning to go see it sometime this week.

The Thrusday to Friday increase depends more on the time of year than the WOM. Because of the big weekdays, Thu-to-Fri increases during the summer are smaller.

If Dory's number holds up, that is the 7th biggest 2nd weekend ever above Catching Fire ($424M) & right behind The Dark Knight ($533M). $500M is in play.

NYSM2, Turtles, Conjuring 2, Warcraft - all wasted efforts.

All these could have hit $100M with a little bit better writing, casting,

and marketing. Such a waste of studio resources.

At least Warcraft is killing it in China.

NYSM 2 is perfectly fabulous. People are just blind.

I know it may not be the most ideal comparison, but Dory started off $23 million behind TDK. If it can make $76m this weekend, it will not have lost any ground over the last 10 days. We all know TDK finished with $533m, so Dory can lose up to $10m off its pace and still cross the magic $500m barrier. I also think it can hold a bit stronger next weekend than TDK's $42m (-43%) and that Tuesdays will be larger its entire run, so that should give Dory a little room to breathe. Unless Pets smashes Dory, I see Dory at $505m-510m end of run.

Dory is like Jurassic World this summer except this time I'm not someone who loved it. I thought it was just alright.

Must have amazing WOM though to do those numbers! Should easily win the summer.

Same here.

Dory was good/ok, nothing  amazing.

Enjoyed it a lot but something was missing ...

Conjuring 2 isn't a wasted effort.

Horror sequels usually decline and Annabelle took off some demand.

It'll end up with $95-100 million DOM on a $40 million budget. Not a huge hit, but a success nevertheless.
