If it does $60m instead of $80m that puts the $475m challenge back in play and makes things interesting!

There are no Friday numbers yet except for the first East coast morning shows.  It's just another wacky Deadline projection.

Wait a minute, The Shallows is PG-13? How the fuck? A shark attack genre flick is PG-13? If only Renny Harlin had directed...

I thought the premise of Hot Girl vs. Shark always had PG-13 written all over it.

55m seems to be the opening. Could have been worse I guess but really should have been better

That is the absolute best case scenario and I don't see it happening.  MI5 had very good reviews and WOM, this does not.   And even then it had 15% more theaters for previews.

I think mid 40s is more realistic and I could see it even hitting 40.

Its not doing only 60M weekend. With the Thursday number Dory had, it would need to stay flat on Friday to hit 60M. It follows TS3

23.925M(+37.5%)

30.15M(+25.8%)

25.0M (-16.8%)

79.1M

It could have been much worse. Maybe it's a horrible number when you thought it would be the biggest movie of the summer :redcapes:

It's a horrible number regardless of what your expectations are. This is a 200 million dollar film and I don't think Fox was praying for a 150 million dollar gross.

I still see Finding Dory hitting $80M. Deadline always pulls numbers out their ass.

For ID:R I see about a $45M opening.

The Shallows....I have no idea. Like am I comparing it to other horror films or how Blake Lively's last film opened because I mean that range is pretty wide open at the moment. Anywhere from $10M to $20M.

There was absolutely no need for Shallows to be R. I saw it last night and it was pretty bloody and the test is left up to your imagination.
