I'll never understand why someone who was blessed with good looks (which gave her success) like she was is always such an absolute bitch.  She should wake up each and every morning thanking God for her blessings and being nice to every interviewer, no matter how repetitive the questions may be.  It's impossible to root for such a bad person.

I first followed BOM when I saw Passion of the Christ and talked to some people in line who hadn't been to a movie since Gone With The Wind and thought to myself that this may be bigger than anyone imagines.

I remember first following box office around the time Da Vinci Code and X-Men: The Last Stand came out. One of the Swedish film sites (Moviezine I think) linked to Mojo during every weekend box office report.

Would have been fun to follow the box office in 2004. Some truly insane runs like Passion, Shrek 2, Fockers etc.

Its hard to believe it has been 10 years ago since those movies were released. I remember watching both Da Vinci Code and The Last Stand on the same day.

I first started following the bo Monday to Monday when Yahoo Movies estimates came out. They didn't have daily data I think or I was not aware of it. But it was a bit confusing at first just looking at weekends. Fellowship of the Ring's run was the first one which got me interested in BO patterns cause I was comparing it with HP1 and it got close to overtaking it with great legs.

I started following it with yahoo movies as well, back in 2005 when Revenege of the Sith came out. I remember it did look weird, cause there would always be a higher total for the movies than the weekend, then I learnt about weekend haha

Isn't she just some dumb model with a failed acting career who's friends with Taylor Swift? Who even cares if she's alive, let alone if she's nice to interviewers?

I started right when I got into high school which would have been around '03 following the HP series.  I had always seen Yahoo updates but somehow stumbled across BOM and got obsessed with the forums.  I didn't post very often but I lurked around for about 3 or 4 years before I posted more frequently.  Baumer, ShawnMR, Noctis were all some of the first posters I remember.  I'm obviously still stoked we have this but I have such a sense of nostalgia for that site and early Saturday morning estimates without the immediacy of social media.

For me, I started following in 2001 with Lord of the Rings. The films coming out were a big thing for me, because I had read the book when I was young, and it had made a huge impression on me. There was a LOTR/Tolkien fan site I discovered and frequented, and they would link to the daily box office gross of LOTR at BOM.

I started following the film's daily gross, hoping every day that the gross would go up rather than down, and wishing for it to stay at #1 and not fall against other films. Back during that time, I would constantly refresh the Box Office Mojo home page, hoping to see the "Updated at" notice in the top right corner change to say the numbers had just been recently updated.

It seems silly now that I know so much more about box office, heh, but it started my interest in box office, and the BOM forums created a huge community of like-minded nerds like me. I'm still sad that place is gone, and wish BOM did more to cultivate a box office community like they used to. They used to run a weekend box office prediction contest, which kept stats on how well people were doing and was, from my perspective, the holy grail of box office prediction contests. If you were on the top of the charts in this contest, you were noticed -- and those at the top at the end of the year were the best. I was pretty good back in that day.

Peace,

Mike

I got into box office with Memento Harry Potter when it broke the OW record. Then I followed for LOTR, got invested in the AOTC vs. Spider-Man duel (Hint: I lost). And it all kinda flowed from there.

TORN - that was the one! I do remember TORC as well. It was wonderful back in the day - so much LOTR news to consume. Leading up to the first film's release was just like the lead up to Christmas as a kid. A great feeling.

Peace,

Teenage CJohn must have been unbearable lol.

I joined the forums later that year, I think. I was so bad the first few months I stopped posting for like 6 months+ and when I returned I changed my name/image and took a completely different style in posting, in this way people wouldn't recognize me :sadben: I think I only returned in early 2008. I didn't post much for the next 2 years. Earlier in the 2010 Summer I stanned for a certain movie and was so embarrassing I went on another hiatus, this time just 2 months, returning with a new identity/name again :sadben:I returned in time for GOD NOLAN INCEPTION. I was still better than Ethan, tho :jeb!:

It's great to have you here so I am glad you continued following the bo despite Gravity Martian Interstellar not touching 200m.
